Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 5 Sep 2026, 22:39 · Europe/Bucharest

Dellien's superior clay return and break conversion give him a structural edge, but Mena's 5-2 H2H and recent resilience make the match closer than odds suggest.

Dellien is favored, but at 1.29 there is no betting value; the first set market may offer a slightly better angle.

Context

Dellien, 33, is a clay-court specialist with a career 63% win rate and 572 clay wins. Mena, 34, has a 57% career win rate and 465 clay wins.
Dellien's recent clay sample shows a 72.7% win rate, 44.6% return points won, and 51.2% break-point conversion, all clearly above Mena's 69.2% win rate, 36.6% return points won, and 31.8% break-point conversion. Mena's edge in first-serve points won (73.4% vs 68.4%) is offset by Dellien's superior return game and break-point efficiency, suggesting Dellien can create more pressure on Mena's serve.
- Dellien last 11 clay matches: 8-3 record, 44.6% return points won, 51.2% break points converted.
- Mena last 13 clay matches: 9-4 record, 36.6% return points won, 31.8% break points converted.
- Dellien's clay games won percentage is 61.2% vs Mena's 51.3%.
Mena, 33, is the lower-ranked player in this final and has won four straight matches this week.
He needed 3 hours 15 minutes to beat Gustavo Heide in the semifinal on 5 September. That is an unusually long match before a final, and it may leave him with less energy against Dellien, who has not dropped a set this week.
- Mena's 5 September semifinal against Heide lasted 3 hours 15 minutes.
- Stored recent sample: 4 wins from 5 tracked matches.
ConfirmedSources checked 5 Sep 2026, 22:38 · Europe/Bucharest
Mena and Dellien have played seven times, all on clay, with Mena winning five.
Mena's 5-2 head-to-head edge includes a 3-6 6-3 6-0 win in their last meeting in February 2025, showing he can beat Dellien even when ranked lower. However, that match was over 18 months ago, and Dellien's current clay form is stronger, so the historical edge may not fully carry over.
- Mena leads H2H 5-2, all on clay.
- Most recent meeting: Feb 2025, Mena won 3-6 6-3 6-0.
- Dellien's last win over Mena was in 2021.
Both players are competing in the Porto Challenger final after strong runs.
Mena has won four consecutive matches, including a three-set win over Gustavo Heide, while Dellien has won four straight in straight sets, losing only 21 games total. Dellien's more efficient path may leave him fresher for the final, but Mena's tougher opposition could have him better battle-tested.
- Mena's last 4 matches: W vs Heide (128), W vs Roca Batalla (346), W vs Alcala Gurri (177), W vs Schoen (498).
- Dellien's last 4 matches: W vs Vives Marcos (538), W vs Damas (316), W vs Bailly (244), W vs Ferreira Silva (239).
- Dellien has not lost a set in his last 4 matches.
