Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 3 Sep 2026, 22:21 · Europe/Bucharest

Hugo Dellien is the clear favorite over Miguel Damas, with superior clay form and a much higher ranking.

However, the odds on Dellien are too short to offer value, and the best betting angle may be on total games over 21.5, though confidence is low.

Context

Dellien, 33, is a clay-court specialist with a career 63% win rate and 570 clay wins. Damas, 24, is a tall right-hander ranked 316 who has spent most of his career on clay.
Dellien's recent clay record of 8-3 includes wins over Pedro Martinez Portero and Gilles Arnaud Bailly, while Damas has lost to players ranked 561 and 410 in his last 15 matches. Damas's overall 53.3% win rate is below Dellien's 72.7% on clay, suggesting Dellien enters with a clearer form edge.
- Dellien's last 15 clay matches: 8 wins, 3 losses (72.7% win rate).
- Damas's last 15 matches overall: 8 wins, 7 losses (53.3% win rate).
- Dellien beat Pedro Martinez Portero (rank 148) and Gilles Arnaud Bailly (rank 244) in his last two clay matches.
- Damas lost to Dimitris Sakellaridis (rank 561) and Mika Brunold (rank 410) in July.
Damas is a 24-year-old ranked 316 who often relies on grinding out points from the baseline. His recent matches have been physically demanding.
In his last five matches, Damas has played four three-setters, with an average duration of over two hours. This workload could be a factor against Dellien, who has won his last two matches in straight sets and has had shorter average match times.
- Damas's last five matches: three-set win vs Kuzmanov, three-set win vs Sanchez-Izquierdo, two-set loss vs Cretu, two-set win vs Topo, two-set loss vs Coppejans.
- Damas's average match duration in last 15 matches is 128.6 minutes.
- Dellien's average match duration in last 15 matches is 103.1 minutes.
Dellien has a long history of clay-court success but has dealt with occasional physical issues. His retirement in late July was his only retirement in the last 15 matches.
The retirement came in a first-set tiebreak, so the physical toll may have been limited. Since then, Dellien has completed four matches, including two straight-set wins this week, suggesting he is fit enough to compete.
- Dellien retired at 6-7(4) against Juan Carlos Prado Angelo on July 29, 2026.
- He has completed four matches since then, including two wins in the current tournament.
- No current injury reports are available.
