Context last updated 30 Sep 2026, 00:40 · Europe/Bucharest

Sharipov arrives on an 11-wins-from-12 hard-court run but must play a third straight day, against a Svrcina ranked 114 places higher who has not competed since 24 September.

Sharipov is the likelier winner, and the price worth backing is 2.9 on him winning in straight sets; the 1.85 match price and the 1.8-1.85 set prices ask for more than the case supports.

Context

Sharipov's 6-0 6-3 final win over Pavel Kotov in Guangzhou delivered his first Challenger title and a first placing inside the top 250, ten days before this opening round. It is the strongest available evidence of his present level, and it was built on hard courts during the same Chinese swing. The caveat is the level of the event: Guangzhou was a 100-level Challenger, and Svrcina has spent the same weeks in ATP 250 main draws and Grand Slam qualifying, so the title does not settle the comparison between them on its own.
- Sharipov beat Pavel Kotov 6-0 6-3 in the Guangzhou final .
- The title was the first of his career at Challenger level.
- The following week's listing placed him inside the top 250 for the first time.

Sharipov plays on 28, 29 and 30 September, adding two qualifying matches to a main-draw opener, while Svrcina's most recent match was, a gap of six days. Uneven accumulated match time is one of the few concrete asymmetries in a first-round match where no previous meeting is recorded, and it matters most if the contest runs long. The counterpoint is that both of Sharipov's qualifying wins finished in straight sets, keeping his court time modest, and the same gap leaves Svrcina without a competitive match for six days.
- Sharipov beat Naoya Honda 7-6(11) 6-2 on 28 September 2026 and Mitsuki Wei Kang Leong 6-2 6-3 to reach the Jingshan main draw.
- Svrcina came through Hangzhou qualifying and lost his main-draw opener 7-6(4) 6-4 to Rinky Hijikata .

Svrcina's US Open fortnight produced the strongest single result either player brings into this match: he won through qualifying, took a five-set first round from Valentin Royer on 31 August, and extended Luciano Darderi, then No. 19, to four sets before losing on 3 September. Winning a best-of-five main-draw match is direct evidence that he closes out matches at tour level rather than only at Challenger level. The limitation is timing: the run finished four weeks ago, and his only match since then ended in a straight-sets loss in Hangzhou.
- Svrcina came through US Open qualifying into the 2026 main draw and won his first-round match.
- He beat Valentin Royer 6-4 6-3 5-7 5-7 6-2 on 31 August 2026 and lost in four sets to Luciano Darderi on 3 September 2026.

Harris, ranked No. 125, was the highest-ranked opponent Sharipov beat during his Guangzhou title week, and the 4-6 7-6(6) 6-3 win shows the run was not assembled only against lower-ranked opposition. It also required him to take a second-set tiebreak to stay in the match. The limitation is that Harris sits outside the top 100, so the result speaks to Sharipov's current form rather than to anything specific about this matchup.
- Sharipov beat third seed Lloyd Harris 4-6 7-6(6) 6-3 in the Guangzhou quarter-finals, coming back from a set down.
