Max Alcala Gurri #132Spain11 – 2Elmer Moller #1632

A clay Challenger final is Møller's strongest result of the autumn, and he reached it through five straight three-set matches, including a 7-6(0) 5-7 6-4 opener against Thiago Monteiro and a 1-6 6-1 7-5 comeback against Zsombor Piros. The cost is visible in what followed: he lost his Maia opener three days after the final. His 7-5, 6-2 win over Boyer in Lisbon was his first straight-set match since 29 September, which points to an easing load, though one short match does not establish that the tank is full for another long clay exchange.

Alcala Gurri's fast starts have carried most of his recent clay matches.

Eleven of 13 first sets is the steadiest part of his clay run, and only two of those sets reached a tiebreak. The qualifier: he won the opener 7-6 against Lukas Neumayer on 9 October and still lost the next two 2-6, 2-6, while Moller took his first set 7-5 against Tristan Boyer in the Lisbon first round on 19 October.

Alcala Gurri's two events before Lisbon ended in his first match, against Lukas Neumayer and then Sánchez Quílez, the latter ranked roughly 190 places below him. The 6-4, 6-2 win over Andrade interrupts that sequence but does not erase the split in his record: all 11 wins in his last 15 matches came against opponents ranked outside the top 200, while the four defeats came against players ranked No. 162 to No. 323. Møller at No. 163 is the first opponent in that band he has faced since Neumayer, so this fixture tests the part of his recent record that has not held.

The defence lasted one match, and it fell in the same week as the Braga final, so his Portuguese swing has produced one deep run and one immediate exit rather than steady form. He is ranked No. 163 after reaching No. 102 in July 2025, and Maia is the clearest recent marker of that drift: he had won the event a year earlier and left without a win. That gives this fixture its ranking shape, with Alcala Gurri 31 places higher and seeded fifth, though results from two different venues in a single week are a thin basis for reading a level gap.
