Context last updated 26 Sep 2026, 22:32 · Europe/Bucharest

Droguet arrives as top seed with 12 wins in his last 13, but Mayot has won 11 of 14 hard-court matches and owns the better first-set record.

Droguet is the more likely winner over three sets; at 1.44 the price asks more than his record carries, and 1.45 on the first set and 1.5 on the second are short as well. Mayot to take the opening set at 2.5 is the one price worth taking.

Context

The Cassis title took Droguet inside the top 100 for the first time and started a run of 12 wins in 13 matches across three consecutive Challengers in France. That streak is why he arrives as the top seed, and it attaches a specific ranking stake to this final: a title would move him to a projected No. 78 and into the top 75 for the first time. The run has been built almost entirely on hard courts even though clay is his listed preference, so his current level is a recent hard-court product rather than a long-standing surface pattern. He has also carried the heavier three-set load of the two finalists over the past fortnight, which is the main counterweight to his form.
- Droguet beat Mark Lajal in the Cassis final to win a third Challenger title and become the 91st French player to enter the top 100, at No. 89.
- He reached the Rennes semi-finals the following week and has won 12 of 13 matches since the start of the Cassis Challenger.
- This is his second Challenger final in three weeks and his third final of 2026; the title would take him to a projected No. 78 and inside the top 75.

Mayot reached the Rennes final and lost it 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to the same player who had beaten Droguet in the semi-final there. He has not yet won a title at Challenger level, and this is his second final in as many weeks, so the outcome here turns on how he handles a stage he keeps reaching rather than on whether he can survive a draw. The counterpoint is that a ninth final is itself evidence of a consistent level at this tier, and he has won four of five matches this week. That record therefore describes his conversion in finals rather than his overall strength.
- Mayot lost the Rennes Challenger final 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 to Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg .
- He has not won a Challenger title; his record before this week stood at 0-8 in Challenger finals, with Saint-Tropez as the ninth.
- He reached the Rennes final by beating Clément Chidekh and Tristan Schoolkate, then lost the final in three sets.

Droguet's first round here turned on a match point saved on his own serve against lucky loser Karl Poling, and his semi-final against No. 101 Dino Prizmic took three sets, so the run has not been untroubled. The route also repeated two recent wins, over Borna Gojo and over Mark Lajal, the man he beat in the Cassis final. Beating the same opponents again supports continuity of level while limiting how much new information those two matches carry. Lajal had already beaten David Goffin in the first round, which makes the quarter-final a win over a player who had handled a former top-10 opponent on this court.
- Droguet saved a match point on his own serve in a 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 first-round win over lucky loser Karl Poling .
- He beat Borna Gojo in the second round and Mark Lajal 6-4, 7-6 in the quarter-final; Lajal had beaten David Goffin in the first round.
- In the semi-final he beat No. 101 Dino Prizmic 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
- Lajal was the opponent Droguet beat in the Cassis final on 13 September.

Mayot's strongest results this week came against the player who removed Grigor Dimitrov and then against third seed Jesper de Jong at No. 95, in a quarter-final that went to 7-5 in the third set. Those wins matter because they came on consecutive days against opponents ranked well above him, and they are the basis for treating this final as a genuine contest. The counterpoint is the semi-final, which ended when Murphy Cassone retired at 4-2 in the deciding set, so it reveals little about Mayot's level that day and leaves him with a lighter last match than Droguet. The first-round exits of Dimitrov and David Goffin are part of why the draw opened up for him.
- Mayot beat Edas Butvilas 6-4, 6-3 in the second round; Butvilas had eliminated Grigor Dimitrov 7-6, 6-3 in the first round.
- Mayot beat third seed Jesper de Jong, No. 95, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in the quarter-final .
- His semi-final ended when Murphy Cassone retired at 4-2 in the deciding set after the first two sets were split.
- Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin, both former top-10 players, lost in the first round of this draw.
