Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 29 Oct 2026, 22:04 · Europe/Bucharest

A Challenger quarter-final indoors: Cui's hard-court games and points numbers and his 10-4 first-set record sit above Bar Biryukov's, but the bigger-serving opponent is ranked higher and has won two three-set matches this week.

Cui should win, yet his 1.3 match price asks too much and 1.4 for the first set is also short. Bar Biryukov at 3.2 is the one price carrying some appeal.

Context

Cui is the lower-ranked player in this quarter-final but the one arriving in the better immediate rhythm.
Cui beat Schoolkate, ranked 169, in three sets on 29 October, two days after a 6-4 6-2 win over Linang Xiao. The run also includes a straight-sets win over Yibing Wu, ranked 107, on 22 October. The one blemish was a three-set loss to Schoolkate on 24 October, so the recent edge is real but narrow against a player he has just split two matches with.
- 29 October 2026: beat Tristan Schoolkate (No. 169) 6-2 3-6 6-2.
- 27 October 2026: beat Linang Xiao (No. 817) 6-4 6-2.
- 22 October 2026: beat Yibing Wu (No. 107) 7-6 7-6.
Bar Biryukov's serve is the part of his game most likely to make this quarter-final awkward for Cui.
He has won 74.1% of first-serve points across those 15 matches (493/665) and lands 60.7% of first serves, so the free points are genuine. The 64 double faults in the same window give Cui's return, which has produced 35.8% of return points won, a way into service games. That trade-off is why the match can swing quickly in either direction.
- Aces per match: 10.0 (150/15 matches).
- Double faults per match: 4.3 (64/15 matches).
- First-serve points won: 74.1% (493/665).
The opening set has been Cui's strongest phase of the match on this surface.
The sample runs from 8 September to 29 October and includes three first-set tiebreaks, so not every set has been comfortable. Bar Biryukov's corresponding record is 6 wins and 9 losses, with 5.00 games won against 5.53 lost. That contrast supports Cui starting well, though Bar Biryukov's four first-set tiebreaks in 15 matches show he often stays close.
- Set 1 across 14 hard-court matches: 10 wins, 4 losses.
- Set 1 games won average 5.57, lost 4.64.
- Three first-set tiebreaks in 14 matches.
