Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg #332France00 – 2Clement Chidekh #205France2

The Rennes trophy was Gueymard Wayenburg's second Challenger title, after Quimper in 2025, and it came with match points saved against second seed Titouan Droguet and a ninth match point converted in the final. It matters because it places his current indoor level above the ranking he carried into that week, around No. 332, and shows he can close tight matches rather than only winning comfortably. The caveat is the level of the field: he entered Rennes from a low ranking and won a Challenger 100 draw, so the title evidences his ceiling on this surface rather than proof he outranks a top-180 opponent.

A fourth ATP Challenger final in a single season is the clearest available measure of Chidekh's standing on this circuit, and the draw lists him as seventh seed at No. 177. It matters because his run has been built entirely indoors, the surface where his recent results are strongest, and because it improves on his Rennes showing, where he lost to Harold Mayot. The counterpoint is the quality of opposition: the semifinal win came against a 19-year-old ranked outside the top 400, so reaching the final says more about his consistency at this level than about his level against a top-220 indoor opponent.

Chidekh's first-round margin over a former world No. 7 is the standout single result of his week and gave him the shortest possible opening match in the draw. It matters because the scoreline supports the view that he is settled in these quick indoor conditions, and a short first match is a workload advantage across a week that has since stretched to five matches. The counterweight is the ranking gap: Goffin, formerly No. 7 and now at No. 461, sat far below Chidekh's No. 177, so the one-game result reflects a large mismatch as much as Chidekh's form.
