Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 3 Oct 2026, 19:13 · Europe/Bucharest

Porto's final matches home hope Henrique Rocha against Inaki Montes De La Torre, and the underdog has the better recent hard-court record: 10-3 in 13 completed matches to Rocha's 6-4 in 10.

Rocha is the likelier winner, at No. 127 with home support and a walkover rest, but 1.44 demands far more than that case supports. Montes at 2.6 is the only quoted price here that carries a case.

Context

Rocha reaches the final having played three matches this week, none decided by a third set, and he was not on court at all on semifinal day. That leaves him fresher than an opponent who has just come through a full semifinal, but it also removes his chance to find rhythm in a competitive set since the quarter-final. His 2026 record in Challenger finals, two wins from three completed, is the relevant counterweight, and the target in Porto is a first Challenger title in Portugal rather than a first title anywhere.
- Rocha's scheduled semifinal opponent Jérôme Kym withdrew before the match with a right shoulder injury.
- Rocha advances to his eighth career ATP Challenger final and his fourth of the 2026 season.
- Rocha holds a 2-1 record in completed 2026 Challenger finals and has not yet won a Challenger title in Portugal.

Montes arrives with the lower ranking but the stronger recent hard-court results, which is why the ranking gap is not the whole story of this final.
The 10-3 record is the strongest argument that this final is closer than the ranking gap suggests, and the associated averages of 2.38 sets and 23.0 games describe a player at home in longer matches. Three of the ten wins needed a deciding set, so the run has not been entirely smooth. Two retirements were excluded from the sample, so the record reflects only completed matches.
- Montes De La Torre is 10-3 in 13 completed hard-court matches from 2026-09-02 to 2026-10-03.
- His scorelines in that sample include seven 2-0 wins, three 2-1 wins, two 1-2 losses and one 0-2 loss.
- His hard-court matches average 2.38 sets and 23.0 games, and four second sets in the 13 matches reached a tiebreak.
- Two retirements were excluded from the 13-match sample.
Rocha has solved three different opponents without dropping a set, and reaching the semifinals at his home event for the first time gives the run extra weight. The evidence is limited by the level of that opposition, with Holmgren, Poljicak and Cretu all outside the top 240, so the ranking quality steps up sharply in the final. His closest set was a second-set tiebreak against Holmgren, the only sign of strain in the week's completed matches.
- Rocha beat August Holmgren 6-3 7-6(7) in the quarter-final .
- Rocha reached the Eupago Porto Open semifinals for the first time in his career.
- Rocha had earlier beaten Mili Poljicak 6-2 6-0 and Cezar Cretu 7-5 6-3 without losing a set.

Montes beat a compatriot ranked above him, No. 212, in straight sets with no tiebreak, his cleanest win of the week in Porto. A third Challenger final of the season means the occasion is familiar rather than novel, which shifts the question from composure to conversion. Nothing in the reporting confirms how the two earlier finals went, and his strongest win this week came in a match that was not completed, so the ceiling evidence is still thin for the step up to a higher-ranked opponent.
- Montes beat David Jordà Sanchis 6-2 6-3 in the Porto semifinal .
- The win came on Montes's 24th birthday.
- It is his third ATP Challenger final of 2026 and his fifth final of the season.
