Context last updated 1 Oct 2026, 03:32 · Europe/Bucharest

Top seed Ruzic has not dropped a set in Adana, but Kostovic has won 8 of 11 first sets and 8 of 11 second sets on hard since 3 August, making her the marginal pick in a first meeting.

The reviewed prices — Under 2.5 sets at 1.5, Kostovic for the first set at 1.8, Kostovic for the second set at 1.85 — all ask for more than the record supports, so no quoted price here is worth taking.

Context

Ruzic is the top seed and the higher-ranked player in this pairing, and she has reached the last eight without conceding a set. That gives her the shorter and more controlled week of the two: two matches, both closed in straight sets, with no extended court time before the quarter-final. The standard of opposition is the limitation, with Valdmannova and Riera both ranked outside the top 140, so the wins establish control rather than tested form. The value is that her seeded status is currently matched by her results in this draw.
- Ruzic is the No. 1 seed in the Adana draw
- 6-4 6-3 against Vendula Valdmannova
- 6-3 6-4 against Julia Riera in the round of 16

Kostovic's route through the last 16 cost her three sets and a later slot than Ruzic, who finished in straight sets earlier the same day. Winning the second-set tiebreak 7-6(1) after losing the opener shows she can turn a match around on these courts, which is the trait that matters most in a first-time meeting. The counterweight is that the three-setter follows a week that already included a WTA 125 final, so the extra court time is a workload cost as well as evidence of resilience.
- 4-6 7-6(1) 6-4 against Dalma Galfi in the round of 16
- Kostovic took the second-set tiebreak 7-6(1) to force a decider
- The match was played after Ruzic's straight-sets win the same day

Kostovic lost the Ankara final, then drew the same opponent in the Adana first round and won 6-1 by retirement. That removes the most immediate question about her week, whether the final defeat would carry into the next event, and it gives the quarter-final a concrete reference point for how quickly she reset. The limitation is that Cengiz retired after a single set, so the win establishes advancement rather than a full-form comparison. Read alongside the Ankara run, it shows consecutive deep weeks on the same Turkish hard-court swing.
- Ankara Open final lost 2-6 6-4 7-5 to Berfu Cengiz on 27 September
- Beaten Cengiz 6-1 by retirement in the Adana first round
- Ankara and Adana are consecutive WTA 125 events in Turkey

Kostovic has won 8 of 11 opening sets and 8 of 11 second sets across 11 completed hard-court matches from 3 August to 30 September 2026, with first sets averaging 9.45 games and second sets 9.64. Four of those matches went to a decider, so the set wins include several she had to fight through, most recently the 4-6 7-6(1) 6-4 recovery against Dalma Galfi. The sample excludes one retired match. Ruzic therefore starts this quarter-final as the likelier player to fall behind early.
- 8-3 first-set record and 8-3 second-set record across 11 completed hard-court matches, 3 August to 30 September 2026
- First sets average 9.45 games and second sets 9.64 in the same sample
- Four of the 11 matches went to a deciding set; one retirement excluded
