Context last updated 30 Sep 2026, 19:39 · Europe/Bucharest

A home defending runner-up with four wins in his last 14 matches against a steadier Argentine who needed two tiebreaks to survive a wildcard: that is the tension in Curitiba.

Olivieri looks the stronger player over three sets, and only some of the quoted prices reflect that — 2.6 on him winning 2-0, 1.75 for the first set and 1.8 for the second are the worthwhile ones, while 1.73 for a plain Olivieri win is not.

Context

He is defending the points from a run to the 2025 final at this same clay venue, so his week in Curitiba carries more ranking weight than an ordinary second round at a Challenger 75. He came in from the alternate list and is one of 11 Brazilians in the field, which frames the fixture as a home player against an Argentine on Brazilian clay. The limitation is his wider record: five wins in his last 15 matches, with his best results clustered around this venue and Buenos Aires.
- Boscardin Dias is the defending Curitiba Challenger runner-up, having reached the 2025 final.
- He entered the 2026 main draw from the alternate list.
- The 2026 Curitiba main draw contains 11 Brazilian players.

A Buenos Aires Challenger semifinal in late September is his most recent body of work, and it came directly after a nine-match losing streak and roughly seven weeks without a match. That makes him a player arriving with match rhythm and wins that a No. 262 ranking does not capture. The counterpoint is how the run ended: from 4-0 and 5-3 ahead he lost ten consecutive games and the semifinal 7-5, 6-0 to Facundo Mena.
- Boscardin Dias lost the Buenos Aires Challenger semifinal 7-5, 6-0 to Facundo Mena .
- He led 4-0 and 5-3 in the opening set before losing ten consecutive games.
- The run came after nine straight defeats between early June and early August 2026 and roughly seven weeks without a match.

The withdrawal removed the highest-ranked opponent in his section and replaced him with a qualifier ranked No. 854, about 560 places below Olivieri, so the 6-4, 6-2 scoreline is a weak guide to how he handles a top-300 clay-courter. The match he was drawn to play, against a Brazilian near the top 200, never took place. He therefore enters the second round without having faced anyone near Olivieri's level this week.
- Thiago Wild withdrew from the Curitiba Challenger with a right-leg problem .
- The original draw paired Wild with defending runner-up Boscardin Dias in the first round.
- Boscardin Dias beat qualifier Victor Hugo Remondy Pagotto 6-4, 6-2 in the first round.

He was taken to two tiebreaks by an opponent ranked No. 768 on the same clay, so his opening match produced little evidence of control and cost him more time than his opponent's straight-set win. He is also the lower-ranked player in this second round, at No. 291 against No. 262. The wider picture is a former No. 131 who has spent 2026 between Challenger main draws and qualifiers, with eight wins in his last 15 matches.
- Olivieri beat Lucas Andrade Da Silva 7-6(6), 7-6(4) in the Curitiba first round .
- Andrade Da Silva is ranked No. 768 and entered the main draw as a wildcard.
- Olivieri is ranked No. 291; Boscardin Dias, his second-round opponent, is ranked No. 262.
