No.

40 Van de Zandschulp meets home wild card Cui (No. 458) for a Beijing main-draw place. Van de Zandschulp is the likelier winner, though he has won just 3 of 10 first sets in hard-court best-of-three matches and Cui beat No. 67 Altmaier 6-4 6-1. Potential value: a three-set match at 2.9, a 2-1 Van de Zandschulp win at 4.25 and Cui's match and second-set prices at 5.25 and 3.8; the short prices on a Van de Zandschulp win and a 2-0 win ask for more.

Context

The two arrive from different competitive levels: Van de Zandschulp is inside the top 50 and has built his 2026 season on main-tour hard-court matches, while Cui is outside the top 400 and has spent most of the year in lower-tier events. The gap makes Van de Zandschulp the clear favourite on ranking and depth of recent opposition. Ranking has not matched recent form at this event, though: Cui's first qualifying win came against a top-70 opponent, so the number alone understates the test.
- Van de Zandschulp ranked No. 40 in singles, Cui ranked No. 458

The win over a top-70 opponent is the strongest result in Cui's recent record, which otherwise is built on lower-tier hard-court events. It carries the Chinese wild card into the final qualifying round in straight sets and at minimal cost in court time. One win does not establish that he can repeat the level against Van de Zandschulp, whose ranking and recent main-tour results sit far higher, and Cui lost earlier September hard-court matches to opponents ranked outside the top 250.
- Cui beat Daniel Altmaier 6-4 6-1 in the first qualifying round in Beijing
- Cui entered the qualifying draw on a wild card
ConfirmedSources checked 28 Sep 2026, 19:32 · Europe/Bucharest
In this sample his first sets and second sets have told very different stories.
If Cui takes the opening set in Beijing, Van de Zandschulp's own record shows he can turn the match around, although he would then need to win two sets in a row in a best-of-three tie.
- Van de Zandschulp won 3 of 10 first sets and 6 of 10 second sets in completed hard-court best-of-three matches tracked from 7 August to 28 September 2026.
- His scorelines in that 10-match sample were 2-0 three times, 2-1 three times and 0-2 four times.
The prize in this round is a place in the Beijing main draw rather than ranking points, so both players are playing for main-tour status. Van de Zandschulp sits at No. 40 against Cui's No. 458, while Cui holds a home wild card into the draw. The tie is best-of-three on the same outdoor hard court used for the opening qualifying round, leaving little time to work through a slow start.
- Listed as an ATP Beijing singles qualification final on hard court for
- Set for the Brad Drewett court with an 11:10pm local start
