Pedro Boscardin Dias #284Brazil22 – 0Eduardo Ribeiro #372Brazil0

Boscardin Dias, 23 and ranked No. 284, had lost nine singles matches in a row from early June and had not competed for roughly seven weeks before arriving in Buenos Aires. He has now won twice in two days, following a 6-3 6-1 first-round win with this comeback, which gives him consecutive victories for the first time in the four months covered by his recent record. The recovery is concrete evidence of his current clay form: he stayed in the match after a 0-6 first set and closed it out in three. The limitation is the narrow margin, because he survived only through a second-set tiebreak, so this does not yet show the level of his early-season run has fully returned.

Ribeiro, 28, sits at No. 355 and has won both of his matches in Buenos Aires in straight sets, including against a former world No. 49. The result moved him about 19 places up the live rankings to roughly No. 336, his best position of the season, and it is his third Challenger quarterfinal of 2026, so the round is a familiar level rather than new ground. Because he has dropped no sets, he arrives with fewer sets played than an opponent who needed a tiebreak and three sets in the second round. The ranking gain is a consequence of this run rather than a separate playing edge in the quarterfinal.

Ribeiro has not been a player grinding out three-set wins on clay in this window: 12 of his 15 clay matches finished in two sets, six won and six lost. That makes a straight-sets finish in either direction the most familiar shape of his recent clay tennis, and it fits the two straight-set wins he has just recorded in Buenos Aires. The sample covers 15 matches across roughly three months, so it describes a tendency rather than a fixed pattern.
