Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 8 Sep 2026, 15:31 · Europe/Bucharest

Bertrand is the better-ranked player but is overpriced at 1.12; our model gives him only a 58% chance.

Scaglia's recent three-set battles make over 21.5 total games and over 2.5 sets attractive, with a tiebreak likely. Avoid the match winner market due to poor value.

Context

Scaglia, ranked 893, has been more consistent on hard courts recently, winning 70% of his last 10 matches on the surface.
Bertrand, ranked 409, has a stronger overall career record but has struggled in his last two hard-court matches against players ranked 338 and 762. Scaglia's recent hard-court success could make this closer than the ranking gap suggests.
- Scaglia's last 15 hard-court record: 7-3 (70% win rate).
- Bertrand's last two hard-court matches: losses to Raphael Perot (rank 338) and Goncalo Marques (rank 762).
- Scaglia's overall last 15 record: 9-6 (60% win rate).
Scaglia, the home player, comes through two long qualifying matches, including a final-set tiebreak, while Bertrand arrives from a five-match run that ended two days earlier.
Scaglia has less recovery time and more recent court time, which may show in longer rallies or a slower start. Bertrand's extra day of rest could help him stay fresher if the match goes three sets.
- Scaglia's 7 September match was designated the Cassis qualifying final and ended 7-6(6), 2-6, 7-6(6).
- Bertrand played five matches from 2 to 6 September at Bagnères-de-Bigorre, ending in the final.

Bertrand's return game has been a strength recently, winning over 41% of return points.
Scaglia's first serve percentage is below 60% in his last 15 matches, which could give Bertrand more opportunities to attack. However, Scaglia saves break points at a higher rate (63.4% vs 50.7%), so he may be able to hold serve under pressure.
- Bertrand's return points won: 41.3% in last 15 matches.
- Scaglia's return points won: 39.2% in last 15 matches.
- Scaglia's first serve in: 59.9% in last 15 matches.
- Scaglia's break points saved: 63.4% vs Bertrand's 50.7%.
Scaglia and Bertrand have met twice before, each winning once.
Scaglia won their hard-court meeting in 2022, while Bertrand won on clay in 2021. This match is on hard court, which may favor Scaglia based on their limited history.
- 2022 hard court: Scaglia won 4-6 6-1 6-4.
- 2021 clay: Bertrand won 6-1 6-0.

Markets to Avoid

High-risk markets where price or context leaves too little cushion.

The heavy favorite price on Bertrand is a trap given his inconsistent recent form and Scaglia's competitive qualifying run.
