Context last updated 30 Oct 2026, 22:12 · Europe/Bucharest

Hong Kong qualifying pairs Ching Laam Lai, who has no supplied ranking, with No.

156 Carol Young Suh Lee. Lee is the likelier winner: she is 9-6 in her last 15 completed hard matches and 11-4 in second sets, while Lai’s nine hard-court matches have all finished 2-0 or 0-2. The quoted 1.01 on Lee offers nothing; it asks for near-certainty from a player with four losses in her last six completed matches.

Context

Six of Lai's nine completed hard-court matches in the sample were 0-2 losses and three were 2-0 wins, with no tiebreak in any of them. The total-games average of 16.8 reflects those short finishes rather than a long baseline. Against Lee, that pattern is a reason to expect a straight-set scoreline, though it covers only nine matches and one retirement was excluded from the sample.
- Nine completed hard-court matches, 1 Feb–12 Oct 2026: six 0-2 losses, three 2-0 wins, no tiebreaks, 16.8 total games average; one retirement excluded.
The Wild Card Race result was recorded . It provides a recent career milestone while Lee enters this Hong Kong qualifier. The race was decided before this event and does not establish a current physical condition or court-specific factor against Lai.
- Lee won the 2026 US Open Wild Card Race.
