A main-draw place and a Cincinnati qualifying rematch sit in the same match: Dart beat Ito 6-3 6-4 there in August and owns the steadier numbers across 15 hard-court matches.

Ito, at home on a wild card, has beaten Parks and Frech this month, so the ranking gap flatters Dart. Dart to win at 1.65 and Dart 2-1 at 4.25 both hold a slim edge; the 1.5 for under 2.5 sets does not.

Context

Dart won the pair's only meeting 6-3 6-4 in the Cincinnati qualifying final on 12 August 2026, moved into the main draw there, and left Ito without one. The rematch carries an identical consequence, so that afternoon is the clearest available evidence of how Ito's slower, sliced patterns cope with Dart's flatter and quicker ball. Two limits apply: the meeting is nine weeks old and was played on a faster hard court, and Ito has since beaten two top-70 players in Wuhan qualifying, so she is not arriving in the same form that lost in Cincinnati.
- Dart won the only previous meeting 6-3 6-4 on hard court in Cincinnati in August 2026
- Both players won first qualifying rounds in Cincinnati on 11 August 2026 and met a day later
- Ito's loss in that match ended her route to the Cincinnati main draw

Osaka's women's event is a WTA 250 staged at the Morita Tennis Centre Utsubo, with qualifying compressed into two days before a main draw that opens on 19 October. The second qualifying round is the last route into that draw, which is why this fixture carries more than a normal early-week match. Both players played their first qualifying round on the same outdoor hard courts, so the turnaround is identical and the schedule itself separates nobody.
- Qualifying at the Kinoshita Group Japan Open is scheduled for 17-18 October, with the main draw from 19 to 25 October
- The second qualifying round is played on 18 October at the Morita Tennis Centre Utsubo
- Both players came through the first qualifying round

Dart has won qualifying matches in Osaka, Beijing and at the US Open this autumn, and at the two tour events before this one she carried that into the main draw, beating Peyton Stearns in New York and winning a three-set first-round match in Beijing. That record matters here because this fixture is itself a qualifying final, the round in which she has been most dependable. The limitation is what came next both times: straight-set defeats by Marie Bouzkova and Jovic, ranked 28 and 11, so the pattern shows she clears qualifying rather than that she is beating top-30 opposition.
- Dart beat Rina Saigo 6-3 6-1 in 1:28 in the Osaka first qualifying round
- Dart was seeded fifth in the Osaka qualifying draw
- Dart beat Ma Yexin 6-3 6-2 in the China Open qualifying final
- Dart won her Beijing first-round match 6-2 6-7(5) 7-5 before losing to Jovic

Ito is ranked No. 344, yet her last five matches include wins over Grant (151), Frech (56) and Parks (64), a level far above her ranking and the reason the ranking gap overstates the difference in current form. The wild card gave her entry only into qualifying, so a main-draw place required winning five matches inside nine days across two countries. The counterweight is what happened at the top of that range: Tjen, ranked 47, beat her 6-3 6-1 in Wuhan, and Ito has played on 10, 11, 12 and against Dart's single match since 3 October.
- Ito received a wild card into the Osaka qualifying draw
- Ito beat Tyra Caterina Grant 6-3 6-4 in the first qualifying round
- Ito beat Parks (64) and Frech (56) to qualify in Wuhan, then lost 6-3 6-1 to Tjen in the main draw
- Ito and Sayaka Ishii were the two Japanese players who advanced from the first qualifying round
