Pre-match view

Context last updated 1 Oct 2026, 20:06 · Europe/Bucharest

The third seed, Emerson Jones, has not dropped a set in Jingshan, but she meets a No. 303 who has already beaten a seed.

Jones is the likelier winner, yet her 1.22 price asks her to be close to untouchable. The prices worth attention sit with Kyoka Okamura at 4.25 to win, at 3.3 to take either the first or second set, and over 21.5 games at 2.4.

Context

Okamura, 30, beat a seeded opponent ranked 135 places above her to reach this quarterfinal, and she did it after losing the opening set on a tiebreak. That is why a No. 303 player is in the last eight of a WTA 125 against the third seed, and why her week cannot be read off her ranking alone. The qualifying cost is real: the win ran to three sets, the day before this match, while Jones closed out her round of 16 on 30 September and had a rest day.
- Ibragimova entered the Jingshan draw as the seventh seed and ranked No. 168
- Okamura lost the first set on a tiebreak before winning the next two
- Okamura is ranked No. 303 and won her opening match against Ru Xi Wu 6-2 6-4
ConfirmedSources checked 1 Oct 2026, 20:04 · Europe/Bucharest
Jones, 18, is the third seed and has conceded no more than four games in any set across her two wins, so she reaches the last eight without having been extended. Those wins came against opponents outside the top 250, meaning the margins reflect the draw as much as her level this week. The useful difference is physical: her round of 16 finished, a day before Okamura's three-setter, so she arrives with the shorter week and the extra recovery day before a quarterfinal.
- Jones was listed third in the Jingshan singles main draw behind Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Fiona Ferro
- She beat Kaji 6-2 6-4 and Zhu 6-1 6-4 without losing a set
- Her round of 16 finished, a day before Okamura's three-set round of 16
ConfirmedSources checked 1 Oct 2026, 20:04 · Europe/Bucharest
Her first serve is the stronger shot: she has won 64.2% of first-serve points (456 of 710) in that sample against 42.7% on second serve (227 of 532).
The double faults mean Okamura should get looks at Jones's serve even in sets Jones is controlling, which is one route to a longer quarterfinal. It does not make Jones vulnerable overall, because she still wins 64.2% of first-serve points across the same 15 matches.
- Jones has hit 108 double faults in her last 15 tracked matches, an average of 7.2 per match.
- Her first-serve points won in that sample is 64.2% (456 of 710), while second-serve points won is 42.7% (227 of 532).
- She has won 50.0% of total points (1206 of 2411) across those 15 matches.
Her opening sets in the same sample are more competitive: 6-9 with 4.4 games won against 5.0 lost on average.
A second set is the phase where Okamura has most often fallen away, so a quarterfinal that goes the distance asks her to hold the part of the match she has usually lost. Even a strong start from her would leave that stretch as the deciding one.
- Across 15 completed hard-court best-of-three matches from 3 June to 1 October 2026, Okamura has a 4-11 record in second sets.
- She averages 3.5 games won and 5.1 games lost in second sets, an 8.5-game set.
- None of those 15 matches contained a second-set tiebreak.
- Her first-set record in the same sample is 6-9 with 4.4 games won and 5.0 lost on average.
