Context last updated 27 Sep 2026, 15:06 · Europe/Bucharest

Lajal, 182 places higher and coming off a straight-set run at Saint-Tropez, should beat Poullain in this indoor-hard opener — but nothing on Lajal's side is worth taking, with 1.1 to win the match, 1.5 for a 2-0 and 1.2 for the first set all asking more than he has shown.

The two prices that do offer something are Poullain to win the match at 5.75 and Poullain to take the opening set at 4.

Context

Lajal, 23, is the higher-ranked player here at No. 143 and comes off three straight-sets wins at 125 level, including 6-3 6-4 over former top-10 player David Goffin. His tournament ended against the top seed in a second-set tiebreak rather than a rout, so the week reads as competitive at a higher tier. The limitation is conditions: that run was outdoors, and this match is his return to indoor hard, in a thinner Challenger 75 field than the one he just navigated.
- Lajal beat David Goffin 6-3 6-4 in the first round at Saint-Tropez .
- He then beat Thomas Faurel 6-1 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals.
- He lost that quarterfinal to top seed Titouan Droguet 6-4 7-6(1) .
- He was No. 143 in the ATP ranking during the event.

The Cassis final is the strongest recent marker of Lajal's level at this tier: a Challenger final one week before this event, reached with a straight-sets semifinal win over tour veteran Daniel Masur. It also marks the upper edge of his current range, because Titouan Droguet beat him there and repeated the scoreline in Saint-Tropez twelve days later. Droguet is not part of this week's field, so the pattern is a level reference rather than a direct matchup concern for this fixture.
- Lajal won his Cassis semifinal 7-6(2) 7-5 against Daniel Masur .
- He lost the Cassis final 6-4 7-6(3) to Titouan Droguet on 13 September 2026.
- Droguet beat him again in the Saint-Tropez quarterfinal 6-4 7-6(1) twelve days later.

His first-set ledger of 11 wins and four losses, at 5.8 games won to 4.07 lost, sits underneath a 11-4 hard-court record over the same window.
Only three of those 15 matches went to a deciding set and six featured at least one tiebreak, so the pattern points to short, front-loaded work rather than long contests. The counterweight is that three of the 15 were 0-2 losses, and his most recent completed match on 25 September ended 4-6 6-7 to Titouan Droguet, so the fast start is a tendency rather than a guarantee.
- Lajal won the first set in 11 of his 15 hard-court matches tracked from 24 August to 25 September 2026, losing it four times.
- He averaged 5.8 first-set games won to 4.07 lost in that sample.
- Nine of his 11 wins in those 15 matches came in straight sets, and only three matches went to a deciding set.
- Six of the 15 matches featured at least one tiebreak.
His set-by-set split runs 7-8 in first sets and 11-4 in second sets, with an average of 5.2 games won to 3.47 lost in the second.
His first sets average 5.27 games won to 4.93 lost, the closest of his segments, and only two of the 15 produced a first-set tiebreak. The second-set numbers are what carry his 10-5 record on this surface, so his game is steadier once the match is under way than at the start of it.
- Poullain won the first set in 7 of his 15 hard-court matches tracked from 28 July to 23 September 2026, losing it 8 times.
- He won the second set in 11 of those 15 matches.
- His first sets averaged 5.27 games won to 4.93 lost; his second sets averaged 5.2 won to 3.47 lost.
- Two of the 15 matches featured a first-set tiebreak.
