Context last updated 28 Sep 2026, 03:47 · Europe/Bucharest

Vukic is world No. 91 against No. 606 in the Jingshan qualifying opener, yet he arrives on two straight defeats and Seggerman's serve keeps sets close.

Vukic is still the likely winner, with the opening set his most reliable edge. The reviewed prices do not pay for it: Vukic at 1.29 asks for 77.5%, Seggerman at 3.3 needs 30.3%, and neither reaches the case.

Context

Both of Vukic's last two matches ran long and ended in defeat, with the Hangzhou opener keeping him on court for two hours 47 minutes five days before this fixture. The practical read is that Vukic carries recent hard-court match play into an opening round against an opponent who has not competed in singles for nearly two weeks, so the competitive sharpness sits with the Australian. The counterpoint is that the run produced no win, and both defeats came against players ranked below him.
- Qualifier Rei Sakamoto beat Vukic 6-4 6-7 6-4 3-6 6-4 at the US Open for his first Grand Slam main-draw win.
- Kyrian Jacquet beat Vukic 7-6(5) 3-6 6-3 in the Hangzhou Open first round, a match lasting two hours 47 minutes.

Seggerman's last singles outing came 11 days before this match, and the two matches he played in Chengdu two days earlier were doubles, so he has no recent singles rhythm to carry into the opening round. That matters because he steps up from Challenger-level singles at No. 606 to face a top-100 opponent, with his recent singles sample limited to a four-match week in California. The doubles minutes do keep him match-tight and already in the region, but they are weak evidence about his singles level.
- Melo and Seggerman beat Thomas Fancutt and Blake Bayldon 7-6(6) 7-6(3) in Chengdu to reach the doubles quarter-finals.
- Wallner and Schnaitter, the third seeds, beat Melo and Seggerman 7/6(7-4) 7/6(9-7) in the Chengdu quarter-finals .
- Seggerman played Mitchell Krueger in singles at the Tiburon Challenger, four days after his previous singles wins at that event.

Vukic's recent hard-court profile leans on fast starts rather than a late surge.
Six of those 14 matches reached a first-set tiebreak, so the opening set has often been tight before Vukic takes it, while his set-two record slips to 9-5 at 5.29 games won on average. Seggerman's own first-set record across his six hard-court matches in the same window was 3-3. The opening set is the clearest place where the two hard-court records separate.
- Vukic won the first set in 11 of 14 hard-court matches tracked between 17 July and 23 September 2026, losing it three times.
- His first-set average across those 14 matches was 6.0 games won to 4.71 lost, with six first-set tiebreaks.
- His second-set record in the same window was 9-5, averaging 5.29 games won and 4.21 lost.
The serve is where Seggerman's numbers hold up best against a higher-ranked opponent.
The serve figures sit above a modest overall baseline: 50.1% of total points won and 34.0% of return points won across the same 14 matches, with only 51.3% of second-serve points won. Against a top-100 opponent that gives him a way to hold and force tight games, but 3.9 double faults a match can undo the work in exactly the games he needs to close out.
- Seggerman averaged 12.5 aces per match and 3.9 double faults per match across 14 tracked matches in the last-15 window, with 175 aces and 55 double faults in total.
- He put 60.1% of first serves into play (698 of 1162) and won 75.9% of first-serve points (530 of 698).
- Across the same window he won 50.1% of total points (1162 of 2321) and 34.0% of return points (394 of 1159), with 51.3% of second-serve points won (238 of 464).
