Thiago Moura Monteiro #276Brazil22 – 1Marco Trungelliti #83Argentina1

Monteiro, 36, is a left-handed Brazilian ranked No. 282 who has spent most of his career on clay. Trungelliti, 36, is a right-handed Argentine ranked No. 99 with a similarly clay-heavy profile.

Monteiro's 11-4 record in his last 15 matches on clay is the stronger recent sample, but Trungelliti's 5-3 clay record in his last 15 includes wins over higher-ranked opponents. Both players have played almost exclusively on clay recently, so neither should be surprised by the surface. The gap in ranking is significant, but recent form suggests the match could be closer than the rankings imply.

Monteiro and Trungelliti both rely on clay-court consistency rather than big serving. Monteiro's left-handed delivery and Trungelliti's right-handed serve create different looks for returners.

Monteiro's serve has been more effective in the recent window, particularly on first-serve points, where he wins 73.4% compared to Trungelliti's 69.2%. Trungelliti also struggles more on second serve, winning just 49% of those points. If Monteiro can apply pressure on return, he may create more break-point chances. However, Trungelliti has saved 63.8% of break points in his last 15 matches, slightly better than Monteiro's 62.3%, so he has been resilient under pressure.

Monteiro, 36, is a veteran who has played a heavy clay schedule in 2026. Trungelliti, also 36, has a similar workload but has managed his matches more efficiently this week.

Monteiro's three matches in Szczecin have totaled 5 hours and 44 minutes, including a 2-hour-56-minute win over Vitaliy Sachko. Trungelliti's three matches have totaled 4 hours and 46 minutes. The extra hour on court could affect Monteiro's recovery, especially at 36 years old. However, Monteiro has shown durability on clay throughout his career, and the semi-final is best-of-three, so fatigue may be manageable.

Monteiro and Trungelliti have a long history on the Challenger circuit, having first met in 2018. Both are clay-court specialists who know each other's games well.

The head-to-head is perfectly balanced at 2-2, with all four matches on clay. Trungelliti won in 2021 and 2022, but Monteiro won their most recent meeting in 2023 in three sets. That recent win could give Monteiro confidence, but the overall pattern suggests a close match. Three of the four meetings were decided in straight sets, while the 2023 match went the distance.
