Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 17 Sep 2026, 22:11 · Europe/Bucharest

Barrena is the ranking and form favorite over Martin Manzano on clay, but their recent game-share numbers are nearly identical, making the 1.48 match-winner price poor value.

Back the totals instead: Over 21.5 games, Over 2.5 sets, Under 6.5 aces, and Over 4.5 double faults.

Context

Barrena, 216 in the world, is a right-hander whose career has been built almost entirely on clay. Martin Manzano, ranked 455, is a left-hander who also plays almost exclusively on the surface.
Barrena holds a slight edge in win rate and sets won, but Martin Manzano has actually won a higher share of games across the same 15-match window. That tension suggests the match may be decided by small margins rather than a clear form gap. Both samples are fully tracked on clay, so the comparison is reliable.
- Barrena last 15: 10-5 record, 55.9% sets won, 51.9% games won, all on clay.
- Martin Manzano last 15: 9-6 record, 55.9% sets won, 53.5% games won, all on clay.
- Barrena's last five include wins over opponents ranked 405, 433, 173, 738 and 356.
- Martin Manzano's last five include wins over opponents ranked 380, 553 and 886, plus losses to 526 and 354.
Martin Manzano, ranked No. 455 and the left-hander in this matchup, lost in final qualifying on 14 September, entered the Biella main draw as a lucky loser, then won on 15 and 17 September to reach this quarter-final.
That route means four matches in five days, more accumulated tournament court time than Barrena has from two main-draw matches. The extra load is a workload fact rather than a confirmed physical problem, so it matters most if this quarter-final extends and the points get longer.
- The Biella draw records him as a lucky loser after the final qualifying round.
- His main-draw wins came on 15 and 17 September.
- Stored recent sample: 3 wins from 5 tracked matches.
ConfirmedSources checked 17 Sep 2026, 22:10 · Europe/Bucharest
Martin Manzano, a 455-ranked left-hander, has played almost all his career on clay. Barrena, ranked 216, is a right-hander with a similarly clay-heavy profile.
Barrena has saved 55.9% of break points across his last 15 matches, while Martin Manzano has saved only 44.6%. If Martin Manzano's double-fault rate holds, Barrena may get more looks on return, though Barrena's own modest 45.7% break-point conversion limits how much he can punish that.
- Martin Manzano last 15: 3.2 double faults per match, 48 total across 15 matches.
- Barrena last 15: 1.6 double faults per match, 24 total across 15 matches.
- Martin Manzano break points saved: 44.6% (37 of 83) over last 15 matches.
- Barrena break points saved: 55.9% (62 of 111) over last 15 matches.
Both players are competing at the Biella Challenger on clay, with Barrena ranked 216 and Martin Manzano 455. Neither has a notable recent injury or withdrawal.
Barrena's recent workload includes a 20-game win over Zdenek Kolar and a 13-game win over Maxime Chazal, both in the last week. Martin Manzano has had shorter recent matches, including a 6-2 6-1 win over Pierluigi Basile. If the quarter-final becomes physical, Barrena's slightly heavier recent load could be a small factor.
- Barrena last 15: average match duration 103 minutes.
- Martin Manzano last 15: average match duration 96.3 minutes.
- Barrena's last five include a 20-game win over Zdenek Kolar and a 13-game win over Maxime Chazal.
- Martin Manzano's last five include a 6-2 6-1 win over Pierluigi Basile and a 6-1 6-1 win over Michele Mecarelli.
