Armenia

The WTA lists hard as Avanesyan’s favourite surface and No. 36 as her career-high ranking. She returned to competition in 2026 after a mononucleosis-related absence reported in April; that older issue is not treated as an active fitness concern here.

Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 16 Sep 2026, 22:06 · Europe/Bucharest

Avanesyan is the rightful favorite at 58% on the back of superior recent form, return numbers, and a fresher straight-sets opener, but the 1.65 price offers no value.

Charaeva's serve volatility and attritional match pattern make Over 21.5 games and Over 7.5 double faults the more attractive angles, while the H2H clay win should not be overrated on this hard court.

Context

Avanesyan, 23, is ranked No. 155 and plays right-handed. Her career surface wins are heavily clay-weighted (157 of 224), and her 2026 record shows 26 clay wins against 11 losses.
Her last-15 hard-court sample is just two matches (1-1), so the clay-heavy form line does not carry over cleanly. Charaeva has played seven hard-court matches in the same window and won four, giving her more recent evidence on this surface.
- Avanesyan's last-15 overall record is 11-2 (73.3%), but the clay split is 10-3 and the hard split is 1-1.
- Her 2026 surface record shows 26 clay wins and 11 clay losses, against 2 hard wins and 2 hard losses.
- Career surface wins: 157 on clay, 47 on hard, 9 on grass, 11 on indoor hard.
Charaeva, the WTA No. 133 right-hander, is the away player in this round-of-16 match and arrived through a rain-interrupted opening round.
Charaeva resumed on 16 September and finished a 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-3 win over Xiaodi You, so she enters this match after a long three-setter completed the day before. That is her immediate workload, and it can affect how much she has left in the later stages of a best-of-three match. The claim does not say she is injured or restricted, only that her previous match was delayed and extended.
- The 16 September tournament update records the rain interruption, the completed three-set score and the Avanesyan pairing.
- Stored recent sample: 2 wins from 5 tracked matches.

Charaeva, 24, is ranked No. 133 and plays right-handed. She has 82 career hard-court wins and reached the second round of a WTA hard-court event in September 2026.
Her hard-court first-serve points won (67.9%) is the strongest serve number in this matchup, but her 5.7 double faults per match on hard is a clear risk. Avanesyan's hard-court return points won is 48.4% from a two-match sample, so the pressure Charaeva faces on second serve is uncertain.
- Charaeva's last-15 hard-court record is 4-3 with a 52.5% games-won rate.
- On hard courts in the last 15 matches she averaged 5.3 aces and 5.7 double faults per match.
- Her hard-court first-serve points won is 67.9% (197/290) across six tracked matches.
This is the first hard-court meeting between the two. The previous match was on clay at a WTA event in March 2026, when Charaeva was ranked No. 133 and Avanesyan No. 155.
Charaeva won 67% of break points and 72% of first-serve points in that match, while Avanesyan managed only 50% of first-serve points and 25% of second-serve points. The surface change reduces how directly that match predicts this one, but the recent scoreline is a real reference point.
- Charaeva won the only H2H meeting 6-4 6-1 on clay on 12 March 2026.
- In that match Charaeva won 72% of first-serve points and 67% of break points; Avanesyan won 50% of first-serve points and 25% of second-serve points.
- The H2H surface split is 1-0 to Charaeva on clay; they have not met on hard.

The read
Charaeva's pattern of long, three-set matches and the near-even deciding-set profiles make a third set a live outcome, though Avanesyan's straight-set efficiency caps the probability.
- Charaeva sets won 55.3% (21/38) last 15 — she has been extended to a decider repeatedly

Charaeva's hard-court ace rate alone (5.3/match) makes the 5.5 line a coin-flip-plus, with Avanesyan's negligible ace output the main drag.

- Avanesyan aces per match just 0.1 (2/15) — she contributes almost nothing to the ace count
