Quick Take

Context last updated 30 Oct 2026, 22:25 · Europe/Bucharest

Vacherot's habit of stretching matches into deciders meets Fritz's quick, straight-set work in a Basel semi-final.

Fritz is the likelier winner, but 1.3 to win the match asks too much of that edge. Vacherot at 3.5 to win, at 2.75 to lead after the first set, plus over 2.5 sets at 2.3 and over 24.5 games at 2.0, are the quotes that hold up.

Context

No fresh reporting or availability information was returned, so conditions rest on the hard-court records and a single 2025 meeting.

Vacherot lost the only completed meeting but took a set and forced a tie-break.
Vacherot won the opening set and stayed level into a second-set tie-break before Fritz took it 7-6(4) and finished the job 7-5. One match is a thin sample, but it shows two players trading sets rather than a one-sided contest. Nothing in that scoreline points to a short, straightforward afternoon.
- 22 October 2025: Fritz won 4-6 7-6(4) 7-5 in the players' only recorded meeting.
Fritz's hard-court sets have been short and front-loaded.
The first-set split and the six straight-set wins describe a player who builds a lead and closes without much drama. Second sets have been nearly as strong at 7-3, with 5.8 games won against 4.8 lost. The straight-set pattern is the clearest threat to a long match here.
- 21 August to 29 October 2026, 10 completed best-of-three hard-court matches, one retirement excluded: six 2-0 wins, one 0-2 loss, three 1-2 losses.
- First sets: 8 wins, 2 losses, 6.0 games won against 4.6 games lost, with three tie-breaks.
- Second sets: 7 wins, 3 losses, 5.8 games won against 4.8 games lost.
Vacherot's hard-court matches have leaned toward three sets.
The 2-1 record of five wins against one loss in those deciders shows someone who stays in long matches rather than fading. He has also won nine of 13 first sets, averaging 5.7 games to 4.8, so the tightening has come later in matches. Against Fritz's six straight-set wins, that habit is the strongest argument for a longer night.
- 18 September to 30 October 2026, 13 completed hard-court best-of-three matches: scorelines 2-1 (5), 2-0 (4), 1-2 (1), 0-2 (3).
- Those 13 matches averaged 26.1 total games, and eight included at least one tie-break.
- First sets: 9 wins, 4 losses, 5.7 games won against 4.8 games lost.
Vacherot's latest win needed a third set.
The 15-12 games line shows a match he controlled at the edges but not in the middle, surrendering the second set 3-6 before recovering to win the third by the same margin. It is his most recent completed evidence on indoor hard and it came in three sets. It also means his last outing before this semi-final was a full-distance match.
- 30 October 2026: beat Holger Rune 6-3 3-6 6-3, winning 15 games to 12.
