Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 28 Oct 2026, 22:26 · Europe/Bucharest

Djokovic's 6-0 record over Struff meets a Struff who has played six matches since 20 October and keeps taking first sets.

Djokovic should still win, and a deciding set is a live possibility. Backing Djokovic at 1.29 asks for 77.5%; Struff at 3.75 is the one price worth taking.

Context

The head-to-head offers Struff little encouragement, though the 2020 match shows he can take a set when the first one stays close.
The 20 January 2020 meeting was the only one of the six to reach a fourth set, and Struff took the third 6-2. Every other meeting between January 2020 and August 2025 finished in straight sets for Djokovic, including 6-3 6-3 6-2 on 31 August 2025. That record makes a Struff win a stretch, though it says nothing about how tight the games will be.
- Djokovic beat Struff 7-6(5) 6-2 2-6 6-1 on 20 January 2020, the only set Struff has taken in the rivalry.
- Djokovic beat Struff 6-3 6-3 6-2 on 31 August 2025 in the most recent meeting.
- All six meetings from January 2020 to August 2025 were won by Djokovic.
Struff's opening-set record is the part of his game that gives him a foothold in this match.
Thirteen matches is a small sample, but the split is clear: Struff starts quickly and rarely surrenders the first set cheaply, with two tiebreaks in that window. Djokovic won only 2 of 6 first sets in his own hard-court best-of-3 sample and lost the opener to Humbert on 28 October. That contrast is the main reason an early Struff lead is plausible even if the match ends his way.
- Struff won 10 of 13 first sets in hard best-of-3 matches between 3 August and 28 October 2026.
- He averaged 5.4 games won to 4.5 games lost in those first sets, with two tiebreaks.
- Djokovic won 2 of 6 first sets in the same format over his own sample.
Djokovic's recent matches have been longer than his ranking suggests, which matters for anyone judging the margin rather than the winner.
The window runs from 15 August to 28 October 2026 and excludes one retirement, so the 26.5-game average comes from completed matches only. Three of those six finished 2-1, and he needed three sets against Humbert in the Basel first round. A six-match sample is thin, but the pattern of slow starts followed by recovery is consistent with the way he opened this tournament.
- Djokovic averaged 26.5 total games and 2.67 sets across six hard best-of-3 matches from 15 August to 28 October 2026.
- Four of those six matches went to a deciding set, with a 2-1 scoreline occurring three times.
- One retirement is excluded from that six-match sample.
