Petr Bar Biryukov #278Russia00 – 2Stefanos Sakellaridis #135Greece2

Bar Biryukov, the No. 278 left-hander, has had his hard-court matches settled quickly at both ends of the scoreline.

Straight sets have been the norm for Bar Biryukov across 15 hard-court matches from 22 August to 11 October: eight 0-2 losses, five 2-0 wins and only two matches that reached a deciding set. Sakellaridis is similar in his smaller nine-match hard sample, where six went the same way. That points to a short contest, though the average first-set scores for both men stay close to ten games.

Bar Biryukov is the left-hander ranked No. 278, and his break-point conversion is the weakest part of his tracked game.

Bar Biryukov has converted 15 of 67 break points (22.4%) in 15 hard-court matches from 22 August to 11 October, the weakest area of his recent record. In his nine hard matches between 19 August and 13 October, Sakellaridis converted 16 of 40 (40%). Bar Biryukov's serve partly covers for it: 72.1% of first-serve points won in the same 15-match sample.

Bar Biryukov, ranked 278, was only added to the Almaty qualifying field after late withdrawals created alternate places, so he must win through the qualifying rounds to reach the main draw. He takes a qualifying-day slot on Court 1 without a main-draw seed or a protected position. The route is administrative rather than a judgement on his form, so it defines the stakes of the match without pointing to an outcome.

Almaty is an ATP 250 hard-court event at Almaty Arena whose main draw starts on 19 October, so this match sits in the qualifying rounds that decide the last main-draw places. The winner advances to the main draw and the loser is eliminated, which raises the value of the match beyond ranking points. Court speed and conditions at the venue have not been published, so the effect is a change in what the match is worth rather than a claim about how either player will perform.
