Passaro brings the Palermo title and a run of clay wins into this Maia second round, while eighth seed Sanchez Izquierdo owns the better clay second-set record and the Szczecin 125 trophy.

Passaro is the marginal favourite to win, but his 1.55 match price and 1.6 set prices are too short. The two prices carrying a small edge are Sanchez Izquierdo at 2.3 to win the match and 2.2 to win the second set.

Context

Passaro arrives in Maia on a six-match winning run after taking the Palermo title, including a three-set final against Forejtek, and the result moved him back inside the ATP top 200. That is the strongest current form line in this fixture and it places a title-winning week immediately before the match. The limitation is physical and logistical: he played two three-set matches in Palermo, then travelled from Italy to Portugal and opened in Maia on 14 October, so the run is recent rather than fresh, and a lower-tier title does not by itself translate into an edge at the next event.
- Passaro defeated Jonas Forejtek 6-3 6-7(2) 7-6(4) in the Palermo Challenger final .
- The Palermo title is his fourth at Challenger level and his first since 2024.
- The result returned him to the ATP top 200 at about No. 198.
- He had won six consecutive matches before arriving in Maia.

Sanchez Izquierdo's Szczecin title is the highest-level trophy either player has won in the recent stretch and it came against a former top-100 opponent in a three-hour final. It explains why he arrives as the eighth seed in Maia on a modest ranking, and it shows he can close out a high-tier Challenger from a set down. The evidence is three and a half weeks old, however, and was followed by a second-round defeat in Braga, so it describes his ceiling rather than uninterrupted current form.
- Sanchez Izquierdo defeated Thiago Monteiro 4-6 6-3 7-6(6) in the Szczecin Challenger 125 final .
- The final lasted more than three hours.
- It was his second Challenger title and the biggest of his career.
- The result raised him to a career-high No. 154.

Passaro's serve is the base of his clay results: 73.7% of first-serve points won and 3.0 aces a match across an 11-match sample, with 62.8% of first serves in. His wider 15-match record shows 74.4% first-serve points won and 4.0 aces. The other side of his game is the return, where he converts only 36.8% of clay break points (32 of 87).
- Clay sample: 11 matches, 73.7% first-serve points won (320/434) and 3.0 aces per match.
- Wider 15-match sample: 74.4% first-serve points won (474/637) and 4.0 aces per match.
- Clay break points converted: 36.8% (32/87).
That 10-4 second-set record is better than Passaro's 7-4 in the same part of the match, and it fits a player whose clay return game is his main strength. The same 14-match sample includes four 1-2 defeats, so the set-by-set edge has not always turned into a win. It remains a small sample rather than a settled pattern.
- Clay second sets: 10-4 across 14 completed matches, 12 July to 13 October 2026.
- Second-set games: 5.4 won to 3.9 lost on average.
- Scorelines in the sample: seven 2-0, one 2-1, four 1-2, two 0-2.
