Francesco Passaro #229Italy22 – 0Tiago Torres #365Portugal0

Torres needed treatment on his leg/thigh six days before Maia, during the second set of his most recent match in Braga, and he went on to lose 6-4 6-4. A leg problem matters on clay because it limits movement and the ability to defend long rallies, potentially exposing him against a higher-ranked opponent. The timeout did not prevent him from completing the match, and no withdrawal or updated fitness information has followed, so it remains an unresolved signal rather than a confirmed restriction.

The comments are useful orientation for a player who has spent most of 2026 below the level that took him to No. 89 in early 2025, showing the Palermo run was a rare high point rather than a routine week. They do not establish current fitness or form beyond the result, and the nature and duration of the injuries have not been detailed. The read-through for this fixture is that Passaro enters Maia on an emotional lift after a long lean spell.

The only on-court history between the two is a doubles semi-final, so it says little about how they match up in singles on clay. The January 2026 wrist problem adds to the injury-interrupted stretch that helps explain Passaro's slide down the rankings. Torres and Rocha went on to reach the final, an early milestone in his climb toward his career-high ranking.
