Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 6 Oct 2026, 03:07 · Europe/Bucharest

Kolar sits 363 places higher but arrives with a 5-8 clay record, while Sakellaridis is 7-5 on the surface over a shorter, weaker-opposition sample.

Kolar is still the likelier winner, but at 1.15 there is nothing in backing him, and 1.55 on a Kolar 2-0 does not hold up either. The prices worth taking are Sakellaridis to win at 4.75 and Sakellaridis 2-0 at 9.

Context

Kolar's recent clay work has started slowly, with the opening set the weaker half of his match.
Only one of those 13 clay matches produced an opening-set tiebreak, so the first set has usually been settled inside ten games for him, and more often against him than for him. That makes the start of this first round a genuine contest rather than a formality for the higher-ranked player. It is a small sample of one player's recent results and not a prediction of how the opening set here will go.
- Kolar won 6 of 13 first sets on clay and lost 7, across matches from 6 July to 18 September 2026
- He averaged 4.4 games won and 5.1 games lost in the opening set in those 13 matches
- Only one of the 13 matches featured an opening-set tiebreak
This is the most recent completed clay match in Kolar's record and it came three weeks before this first round, against a player ranked inside the top 160. He won only four games in the match, a sharper defeat than a 5-8 clay record alone would suggest. It is one result rather than a verdict on the first round, but it is the freshest evidence available on the higher-ranked player.
- 18 September 2026: lost 1-6 3-6 to Nikolas Sanchez-Izquierdo, ranked 157, on clay
- He won 4 games and lost 12 across the two sets
- The match is listed as completed, not a retirement
He dropped the opening set, took the second 6-1 and edged the decider on a tiebreak, the day before this first round. It shows him arriving with match sharpness rather than a long rest, and it is the kind of three-set result that has been the exception in his clay record rather than the rule. The single result does not establish how fresh or tired he will be in this match.
- 5 October 2026: beat Matyas Cerny, ranked 705, 3-6 6-1 7-6 on clay
- He won 16 games and lost 13 across the three sets
- The match is listed as completed, not a retirement
