Context last updated 4 Oct 2026, 20:10 · Europe/Bucharest

The market makes Pucinelli the favourite at 1.70 even though he is ranked 270 to Barrena's 220 and has gone to a deciding set in seven of his last eight clay matches; Barrena, 11-4 on clay since mid-August and still to drop a set in five matches, looks the likelier winner.

Barrena at 2.05 to win, 2.00 for the first set, 2.00 for the second and 4.5 for a 2-1 win all offer something; Pucinelli's 1.70 does not.

Context

Barrena, ranked 220, arrives with the stronger recent clay results of the two players.
Barrena won 64.7% of his clay sets (22 of 34) and 54.9% of his games across 15 matches from 15 August to 27 September 2026, and the five-match straight-set run from 22 to 27 September included a 6-4 6-0 win over Facundo Mena, ranked 190. All five wins came against opponents ranked 159, 190, 336, 360 or unranked, and his previous clay outing on 19 September was a straight-sets loss to Carlo Alberto Caniato, ranked 314. Fifteen matches is still a small sample.
- Clay record 11-4 across 15 matches from 15 August to 27 September 2026, with 22 of 34 sets won (64.7%) and 175 of 319 games won (54.9%).
- Five consecutive straight-set wins from 22 to 27 September 2026, the last a 6-4 6-0 win over Facundo Mena (rank 190).
- The 15-match clay set sample includes only three matches with a tiebreak and averages 21.3 total games.
Pucinelli, ranked 270, has won five of his eight recent clay matches, but almost none of them were settled quickly.
Pucinelli is 5-3 on clay in that window, averages 2.875 sets and 27.25 games per match, and has played only one tiebreak across the eight, so his matches tend to be long and to reach a third set. The scorelines include four 2-1 wins and three 1-2 losses, meaning both his wins and his defeats have usually taken three sets. That pattern works against a short match here.
- Clay set evidence covers 8 matches from 11 August to 2 October 2026, with a 5-3 record.
- Seven of the eight matches went to a deciding set: four won 2-1 and three lost 1-2.
- Average of 2.875 sets and 27.25 games per match, with one tiebreak in the sample.
Pucinelli's serve is his main weapon, but the free points he gives away are a recurring feature of his recent record.
The 14 matches with complete serve data in that sample give him 3.1 double faults and 2.1 aces per match, so he concedes free points at a higher rate than he wins them with the serve. Barrena's 15-match clay sample shows 1.6 double faults per match (24 in 15), a much lower figure. The two samples cover different spans and surfaces, since Pucinelli's last-15 record includes hard-court matches, so the gap is a flag rather than a settled edge.
- 43 double faults and 29 aces across the 14 matches in Pucinelli's last-15 sample with complete serve data.
- That works out at 3.1 double faults and 2.1 aces per match.
- Barrena's 15-match clay sample shows 1.6 double faults per match (24 in 15).
