Context last updated 28 Sep 2026, 01:03 · Europe/Bucharest

Colombians Samuel Heredia and Juan Sebastian Osorio meet in the final round of Curitiba qualifying, where the winner takes a main-draw place on clay.

Heredia's clay set and game numbers are stronger, but Osorio has won more matches in this window and took their only prior meeting after Heredia retired in the third set. Heredia is the marginal favourite over three sets. Neither quoted price is worth taking: 1.65 on Heredia and 2.1 on Osorio both require more than the case supports.

Context

Heredia's clay record in this window is 6-3, and the middle set is where his numbers sit highest.
Heredia's clay sets won stand at 68.2% (15 of 22), and the second set is where that shows most clearly, at eight wins against one loss with an average of 5.89 games won and 4.44 lost. Nine matches is a small sample, so this reads as a lean for Heredia in the middle set rather than a settled pattern, and Osorio is himself 6-5 on clay in this stretch.
- Clay set evidence, 14 June to 27 September 2026, nine matches: second set won eight times, lost once
- Clay second sets averaged 5.89 games won and 4.44 lost, 10.33 total games, with two tiebreaks across the sample
- Clay matches won 6-3 in the same nine-match sample, with 15 of 22 sets won (68.2%)
Both players enter through the same gate, because the last qualifying round decides a place in the Curitiba ATP Challenger 75 main draw rather than ranking points alone. The event is played on clay at Graciosa Country Club, where slower conditions reward sustained rallying and defence, which fits the clay-heavy schedules both players have had. Heredia is the fifth seed and Osorio the tenth, so the draw offers no clear seeding edge either way. The immediate reward is main-draw entry, while the ranking gain from qualifying itself is small.
- Heredia (seed 5) and Osorio (seed 10) are paired in the final round of qualifying
- The event is an ATP Challenger 75 staged on clay at Graciosa Country Club
- The Curitiba tournament was rated the best Challenger 75 in the world in 2025

Heredia spent an extra set on court in the opening round, recovering from 3-6 down against a 17-year-old wildcard making his second Challenger appearance. Osorio dropped only three games in a 6-1 6-2 win, so he arrives at this match with the lighter workload from the previous day. On clay, a longer opening match can weigh on a tight final set of a qualifying decider. The gap is still only one set, so it is a marginal rather than a decisive workload difference.
- Heredia beat Leonardo Storck 3-6 6-3 6-1 in the first qualifying round
- Storck, 17, entered qualifying on a wildcard and had reached the Roland Garros junior semi-final
- Osorio beat Jefferson Wendler 6-1 6-2 in the first qualifying round
ConfirmedSources checked 28 Sep 2026, 01:01 · Europe/Bucharest
The only previous meeting between the two is a single qualifying match from 2024, and it did not finish: Osorio took the second-set tiebreak and led 4-1 in the third when Heredia retired. That leaves Osorio 1-0 in head-to-head terms, but the sample is one unfinished match and says little about how the two now match up on current clay form. It does show Osorio has already beaten Heredia in a comparable qualifying setting. No wider pattern can be drawn from a lone retirement-affected result.
- The 2024 Cali qualifying match is the pair's only previous meeting
- Osorio won after Heredia retired in the third set at 4-1
- Osorio leads the head-to-head 1-0
