Context last updated 27 Sep 2026, 23:11 · Europe/Bucharest

Erhard is the higher-ranked and more consistent hard-court player, but two in-match medical interruptions in the past three weeks leave his condition as the open question in this qualifying round.

He is still the likelier winner. At the quoted prices, only Barroso at 3.8 offers anything; Erhard at 1.22 asks too much.

Context

Two in-match medical interruptions inside the last three weeks put his physical state at the centre of a second competitive day in a row. The Cassis match ended in retirement, and the St-Tropez timeout came in a match that went the distance, so both interruptions landed in matches slipping away from him. He then completed a straight-sets qualifying win on 27 September, which is the counterweight, but a single two-set match is thin evidence that the leg and foot problem has settled.
- Medical time out for Mathys Erhard during his match against Daniil Glinka; he had been touching his leg and foot earlier ()
- The match against Daniil Glinka ended in retirement
- Medical time out for Mathys Erhard during his St-Tropez match against Patrick Zahraj, after the second set had gone against him ()

St-Tropez is the most recent defeat on his record, and he reads it as illness rather than level, which separates it from the losses either side of it and from a ten-win record across his last fifteen matches. A full training week, followed by a straight-sets win in the opening qualifying round, is the strongest available indication of his condition going into this fixture. The explanation is self-reported and cannot be independently verified, and neither of his last two completed matches lasted three sets, so his stamina in a long qualifying match remains untested.
- Erhard: "J'avais une intoxication alimentaire quand j'ai perdu à St-Tropez donc ce n'était pas un match facile"
- Erhard: "Je me suis bien entrainé la semaine dernière"
- Erhard: "J'espère aller au bout. Maintenant c'est match par match comme toujours"
- Open de Vendée qualifying: Mathys Erhard def. Paul Theate 6-4, 6-2 ()

The event is played indoors on hard court, so conditions are stable and the venue's previous day of qualifying is directly comparable for both men. Neither player entered through the main draw, so both had to settle on the surface during the qualifying rounds rather than in practice sets. This sets the stage and the conditions rather than saying anything about either player's current level.
- Qualifying draw for the Mouilleron-le-Captif Challenger published
- First-round qualifying matches at the event played, with the main draw beginning across 27-28 September
- Erhard's straight-sets win over Paul Theate described as an Open de Vendée qualifying match
- Match samples for at this event list the surface as indoor hard

Erhard sits at No. 360, so No. 262 is the strongest name on his recent record.
It shows he can handle a better-ranked opponent on hard courts, although it is a single match and the ranking gap to Barroso (699) is far wider than the one he had to close here.
- 1 September 2026: Erhard beat Charles Broom (ranked 262) 6-2 6-7 6-1 on hard court.
- Broom was the higher-ranked player, at No. 262 against Erhard's No. 360.
