Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 22 Sep 2026, 23:37 · Europe/Bucharest

The third seed against an in-form left-hander: Neumayer sits 255 places higher, but Manzano has won at Challenger level on Italian clay in each of the past two weeks and owns the better second-set record.

Neumayer is the likelier winner, though not by much. The clearest lean is a straight-sets finish. No price was put forward in review, so there is no quoted number to weigh here.

Context

Neumayer faced a top-40 opponent in a team tie in Vienna four days before this second-round match and won the opening set before the higher-ranked player took the last two. It is the closest recent look at how his game holds up above Challenger level, and it also sets the physical ledger of his week: three sets on clay in Vienna, a move to Italy and a first-round match in Genoa on 22 September. Manzano has stayed inside Italy and on clay throughout, having played in Biella and then Genoa, so the travel load in this fixture sits with the Austrian seed.
- Neumayer played the second singles rubber for Austria against Belgium in Vienna.
- Bergs, ranked 38, won the match after Neumayer took the opening set 6-2.
- Neumayer won his Genoa 2 first-round match on 22 September.

Neumayer's clay record is level at 6-6, but the results inside his matches are uneven.
His opening sets are close to even - six won, six lost, with 5.5 games won against 4.9 lost - while the second sets have gone 4-8 with a losing game margin. Manzano has won 8 of his 15 second sets on clay, so the back half of this match is where the ranking gap looks least secure. Twelve matches is a small sample and not a settled pattern.
- Neumayer has won 4 of 12 second sets on clay, losing 8, across completed matches from 11 July to 22 September 2026.
- He averages 4.9 games won and 5.7 games lost in second sets on clay in that sample.
- In the same 12 matches he has won 6 of 12 opening sets, averaging 5.5 games won against 4.9 lost.
Manzano's 8-7 clay record has been built on short, break-driven matches.
His scorelines on clay read 2-0 in six matches and 0-2 in five, with only four matches going to a third set. His matches average 20.1 total games, well short of what a full three-setter would produce. The same numbers cut both ways: they point to a quick finish here, but they also show he has been beaten in straight sets almost as often as he has won that way.
- Manzano has played 15 completed clay matches between 26 July and 21 September 2026, with 11 finishing in straight sets (six 2-0 wins, five 0-2 losses).
- Only one of those 15 matches contained a tiebreak.
- His clay matches average 20.1 total games and 2.3 sets.
Neumayer is the third seed at Genoa 2 and his opening match lasted two sets, including a second-set tiebreak, so he comes into this second-round match without an extended spell on court. That is a thinner test than the scoreline alone suggests, because D'Agostino is ranked 755, so the win confirms the expected result rather than measuring Neumayer against a comparable opponent. Manzano sits far below him in the ranking but is left-handed, playing in his own country, and arrives with a straight-sets win over a higher-ranked player.
- Neumayer beat Stefano D'Agostino 6-3 7-6(4) in the Genoa 2 first round.
- Neumayer is the third seed at Genoa 2.
- The win sets up a second-round match against Juan Cruz Martin Manzano.
