Context last updated 17 Sep 2026, 03:10 · Europe/Bucharest

Pacheco Mendez is the rightful favourite on recent hard-court form, serve structure and freshness, but his 1.30 price is far too short versus a 62% model estimate.

The value sits with Sekulic at 3.25 (+7.2pt edge), supported by a level return profile and superior break-point conversion, with over 2.5 sets and over 21.5 games as the best companion angles.

Context

Pacheco Mendez, 269th, is a 191cm left-hander whose 2026 hard-court record is 21-14. Sekulic, 348th, is also 191cm but right-handed and has played almost exclusively on hard courts in 2026.
Pacheco Mendez's 70.5% break-point save rate and 72.5% first-serve points won over 15 matches are well clear of Sekulic's 47.6% and 66.6%. Sekulic converts break points at 48.9% against Pacheco Mendez's 32.5%, so the return games may decide this. The serve-hold edge sits with Pacheco Mendez, but his lower conversion rate keeps the match open.
- Pacheco Mendez last 15 matches: 70.5% break points saved (55/78), 72.5% first-serve points won (440/607).
- Sekulic last 15 matches: 47.6% break points saved (49/103), 66.6% first-serve points won (435/653).
- Sekulic converts break points at 48.9% (43/88) versus Pacheco Mendez at 32.5% (37/114).
- Both players have tracked serve data across all 15 matches in the window.
Sekulic, the ATP No. 348 right-hander, is the away player in this Phan Thiet quarter-final and has won four of his last five tracked matches.
On 16 September he saved two match points in the second-set tiebreak against Kenta Miyoshi and won 6-7(5), 7-6(5), 6-3, a three-set match that followed another three-set win the day before. That longer route to this round is the main workload question around him, though the stored sample also includes a 2026-09-08 match against Moerani Bouzige that ended by retirement, so his recent match load is not uniform.
- The point-by-point record shows two match points saved by Sekulic in the second set.
- The completed match record confirms the three-set score on 16 September.
- Stored recent sample: 4 wins from 5 tracked matches.
- A tracked match on 2026-09-08T07:10:00.000Z against Moerani Bouzige ended by retirement; the stored result was W.

Pacheco Mendez reached a career-high ranking near 269 and has played most of his 2026 tennis on hard courts. Sekulic, an Australian ranked 348, has also built his 2026 schedule almost entirely on hard courts.
Pacheco Mendez's 8-7 overall and 8-5 hard-court record in the last 15 matches is slightly better than Sekulic's 7-8 overall and 7-7 on hard. Both players have similar games-won rates, so the difference is narrow. Recent form leans to Pacheco Mendez, but not by enough to separate them clearly.
- Pacheco Mendez last 15: 8-7 overall, 8-5 on hard courts (13 matches tracked).
- Sekulic last 15: 7-8 overall, 7-7 on hard courts (14 matches tracked).
- Pacheco Mendez has won 52.9% of games overall; Sekulic 46.6%.
- Both players have complete 15-match windows with no retirements in the tracked sample.
Sekulic, 348th, is through to the Phan Thiet quarter-final after a run of three-set matches. His recent form shows a pattern of extended matches on hard courts.
Sekulic has spent over three hours on court in his last two matches alone, including a 6-7 7-6 6-3 win over Kenta Miyoshi on 16 September. Pacheco Mendez won his last two matches in straight sets, so the Australian may carry more fatigue into this quarter-final. That could show in longer rallies or a deciding set.
- Sekulic's last three matches: 6-2 2-6 7-5, 6-7 7-6 6-3, and 6-2 4-6 7-5.
- Sekulic's 16 September win over Kenta Miyoshi lasted three sets and included two tiebreaks.
- Pacheco Mendez's last two matches were straight-set wins on 14 and 16 September.
- Sekulic's average match duration in the last 15 is 103.3 minutes.

Pacheco Mendez owns the better recent hard-court serve/return structure and arrives fresher, but the quoted 1.30 is shorter than the model estimate, so the value sits with the underdog side rather than this selection.
