Context last updated 16 Sep 2026, 03:29 · Europe/Bucharest

Malaika Rapolu's strong recent hard-court form and superior return numbers give her a clear edge over Noma Akugue Noha.

The best betting angle is Rapolu to win at odds of 2.20, with a model edge of 16.5 points. Expect a competitive match, but Rapolu is likely to prevail, possibly in straight sets.

Context

Rapolu, ranked 333, has built her career on hard courts with 103 of her 115 wins coming on the surface. Noha, ranked 124, is a left-hander who has played more on clay and indoor hard.
Rapolu's recent hard-court numbers are clearly better: she has won 73.3% of her last 15 matches, all on hard, while Noha has won only 50% of her last four hard-court matches. Rapolu also wins more return points (51.6% vs 43.9%) and total points (54.8% vs 53.0%) on the surface. However, Noha's first-serve points won on hard (68.1%) is higher than Rapolu's (62.9%), so Noha can still hold serve effectively.
- Rapolu's last 15 matches are all on hard courts, with an 11-4 record (73.3% win rate).
- Noha's last four hard-court matches: 2-2 record, with wins over Ayana Akli and Julia Avdeeva and losses to Anna Siskova and Weronika Falkowska.
- Rapolu's hard-court return points won: 51.6% vs Noha's 43.9%.
- Noha's hard-court first-serve points won: 68.1% vs Rapolu's 62.9%.
Noha has been competing primarily on clay in recent weeks, with 11 of her last 15 matches on that surface. She reached the final of a clay event on September 13, losing to Fiona Ferro.
The quick turnaround from a clay final to a hard-court match could disrupt Noha's timing and movement. Her last hard-court match was a straight-sets win over Ayana Akli on September 15, but that was a lower-ranked opponent. Rapolu, by contrast, has been playing exclusively on hard courts and won three matches in this tournament already, so she is better adapted to the surface and conditions.
- Noha's last 15 matches: 11 on clay, 4 on hard.
- Noha played a clay final on September 13 (lost to Fiona Ferro) and then a hard-court match on September 15 (beat Ayana Akli).
- Rapolu's last 15 matches are all on hard courts, including three wins in this tournament.
Rapolu entered this tournament as a qualifier and has played three matches since September 13, winning all in straight sets with a total of 36 games won and 13 lost.
While Rapolu's matches have been relatively short (average duration under 100 minutes in her last 15), playing three consecutive days can still cause fatigue. Noha, on the other hand, played her last match on September 15 and had a day off before this second-round encounter. If the match goes to three sets, Rapolu's legs may be tested more than Noha's.
- Rapolu's recent matches: Sep 13 (W 6-3 6-2), Sep 14 (W 6-0 6-2), Sep 15 (W 6-2 6-4).
- Noha's last match was Sep 15 (W 6-3 6-0), giving her one rest day before this match.
- Rapolu's average match duration in last 15: 98.9 minutes.
