Context last updated 17 Oct 2026, 22:22 · Europe/Bucharest

Burel brings 13 wins in her last 15 clay matches and has not dropped a set in Lisbon, while Romero Gormaz is the higher-ranked player and has just beaten No.

105 Fiona Ferro 6-2, 6-2. Burel is the likelier winner, but 1.33 is a price to leave alone. The one quote with room is Romero Gormaz at 3.3, the only selection here where the price runs ahead of the chance.

Context

The set count is the main measurable workload difference between the two finalists: Burel has played eight sets, Romero Gormaz nine, and the Spaniard's extra set came in an opening round she lost the first set of. Her quarterfinal and semifinal were as short as anything Burel produced, so the gap reflects one awkward first round rather than accumulated fatigue. The clearer distinction is the opposition beaten: Bouzas Maneiro, at No. 99, is the highest-ranked player either faced this week, while Romero Gormaz's best win came against No. 105.
- Burel beat Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinal .
- Burel's earlier wins were 6-1, 6-3 over Lina Gjorcheska, 6-0, 6-1 over Mathilde Lollia and 6-4, 6-4 over Guiomar Maristany.
- Romero Gormaz beat Dalma Galfi 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinal after 6-2, 6-2 over Fiona Ferro and 6-1, 6-2 over Raluca Serban.
- Romero Gormaz's opening round was a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Alice Rame.

Burel's ranking of No. 214 still carries the 12 months lost to the knee injury rather than her present level, which was No. 42 in June 2024. The Valencia title and this run show she can carry a full week of matches on clay again, which is the practical test after ACL surgery. The limit is the level of that evidence: every win in the sequence has come at WTA 125 or ITF level, so it establishes durability and clay form rather than a return to tour-level results. It also means her unseeded position here understates the opponent Romero Gormaz meets.
- Burel tore the ACL in her right knee in April 2025 and returned to competition in April 2026.
- She won the Valencia WTA 125, beating Alicia Herrero Linana 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 from a set down.
- Valencia was her first WTA 125 title since the knee injury.
- Her Lisbon semifinal win was her eighth consecutive match win since mid-September.

Ferro was the form player in that section, a two-time WTA 125 champion in 2026 who had won seven straight matches on clay, and Romero Gormaz conceded four games. It is the strongest single result of her week and the one that best supports her level holding against a ranked opponent on this surface. The counterpoint is scale: Ferro is a 125-level champion rather than a top-50 player, and Burel arrives with a longer winning sequence of her own at the same tier.
- Romero Gormaz beat Fiona Ferro 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinal .
- Ferro arrived on a seven-match clay winning run and had won WTA 125 titles at Montreux and Oeiras in 2026.
- Ferro was ranked No. 105; Romero Gormaz's other wins this week came against opponents ranked No. 152 or lower.

Romero Gormaz's serve carries more risk than Burel's, and the free points run the other way.
Six extra double faults a match hand Burel games she does not have to construct. Romero Gormaz wins 62.6% of first-serve points, slightly above Burel's 61.8%, so the cost shows on the second delivery. In a best-of-three clay final, one loose service game can settle a set.
- 84 double faults across 15 completed matches (5.6 per match)
- Burel: 35 double faults across 15 completed matches (2.3 per match)
- Romero Gormaz was 8-7 across the same 15-match sample
