Context last updated 15 Oct 2026, 22:14 · Europe/Bucharest

Second seed Francesca Jones, ranked 104, meets seventh seed Dalma Galfi for a place in the Lisbon semi-final, with Galfi having survived three hours 43 minutes and six match points in the previous round.

Jones is the likelier winner, and at 1.80 her match price is the one quoted selection that offers an advantage. Under 2.5 sets at 1.50 gives no clear edge and Over 20.5 games at 1.65 is not attractive.

Context

Galfi's round-of-16 win ran to three hours 43 minutes and she faced six match points, while Jones completed both matches in straight sets, so the recovery gap into the quarterfinal is uneven. On clay, where long rallies already tax the legs, that difference is the clearest physical variable in the fixture. Galfi does take match sharpness from a long, high-pressure win and both players had the same one-day turnaround, so the heavier workload is a risk to monitor rather than a settled disadvantage.
- Galfi saved six match points to beat Matilde Jorge 3-6 7-6(10) 7-5 in the Lisbon round of 16.
- That match lasted three hours 43 minutes, and Jorge served for the match twice.
- Jones won both her Lisbon matches in straight sets, 7-5 6-1 and 6-3 6-4.

A mid-match leg treatment is a current physical signal in the week of the fixture, and it came inside the same match that stretched to three hours 43 minutes. If the issue persists, it could limit her movement in a clay quarterfinal against an opponent who has won two WTA 125 titles on the surface this year. Galfi finished and won the match after treatment, so there is no confirmation that the problem affects her availability or level on Friday.
- A medical timeout was called for Galfi, with treatment on a leg area.
- She was serving at 1-4 down in the first set at the time.
- She went on to win the match 3-6 7-6(10) 7-5.

Returning to the top 100 raises the value of every remaining match for Jones, because ranking position governs entry and seedings at the events that follow. It also reflects a body of results across the clay circuit rather than a single week, alongside two WTA 125 titles this year. The figure is a live projection rather than an official list, so it can move again before the next publication.
- Jones is back up to No. 97 in the live rankings after reaching the quarterfinals in Lisbon.
- She entered the event ranked No. 104.

The titles establish Jones as a proven winner at this level and on this surface, which is directly relevant to a clay quarterfinal against a fellow WTA 125 title-holder. They also explain why she is seeded second while ranked outside the top 100. The wins came three months ago, however, and her results since then include a straight-set loss to Mona Barthel in mid-September.
- Jones won two WTA 125 titles in July 2026.
- Both titles came on clay.
