Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 4 Oct 2026, 20:04 · Europe/Bucharest

Rincon sits 113 ranking places above Sanchez Quilez and beat a shared opponent 6-1 6-1 the day after Sanchez Quilez lost to him, but the 1.6 on Rincon asks for more than a 6-6 hard-court run supports.

Straight sets are the likeliest shape of this first-round match. At 3.5, Sanchez Quilez to win 2-0 is the one quoted price with an edge.

Context

Sanchez Quilez, 21, was beaten in straight sets by Jacob Fearnley at the Porto Challenger, the match immediately before Villena, and he also lost the outing before that. The practical read is that he enters on his weakest stretch of recent weeks, and the standard of that defeat, against a top-100 opponent, sits above the ITF events where his 2026 wins have come. It matters for a first-round hard-court match against a higher-ranked left-hander, Daniel Rincon, because a player arriving off consecutive losses is a different proposition from one arriving off a title. Two results are limited evidence and say nothing about fitness, so this is context on recent form rather than a documented physical concern.
- Fearnley beat Sanchez Quilez in the Porto Challenger singles draw
- That was Sanchez Quilez's last match before the Villena event
ReportedSources checked 4 Oct 2026, 20:02 · Europe/BucharestFlashscorewww.flashscore.com · 30 Sep 2026
Sanchez Quilez has played 13 completed hard-court matches in this window and only two have gone the distance.
Eight of his nine wins in that stretch came without dropping a set, so a two-set scoreline is the most likely shape of this first-round match either way. The same record shows his defeats are usually quick too, which is why the straight-set result is the read.
- 13 completed hard-court matches, 21 July to 29 September 2026, with no retirements excluded from the sample
- Scorelines: 2-0 in 8, 0-2 in 3, 2-1 in 1, 1-2 in 1
- First sets: 9-4; second sets: 9-4; five of the 13 matches contained a tiebreak
Rincon, the higher-ranked player at No. 257, produced the most one-sided scoreline of his recent run against Tabacco.
Tabacco is the only shared opponent between the two players in this window, and Sanchez Quilez lost to the same man 0-6 6-4 1-6 a day earlier, which is the clearest available comparison between them. One opponent on two separate days is thin evidence, and Rincon's wider hard-court record this window is level at 6-6.
- 29 September 2026 (hard court): Rincon beat Fausto Tabacco, ranked 478, 6-1 6-1
- Games won and lost in the match: 12-2
Sanchez Quilez's only singles title of 2026 came on hard courts at the M25+H Tauste event, a $30,000 ITF World Tennis Tour tournament. It shows the level at which he has converted a full week into a trophy and confirms that his best results this year have come on hard courts. The qualification is level: an M25 title sits below the ranked Challenger opposition in his recent schedule, so it illustrates his winning range rather than a running edge into this match.
- Sanchez Quilez is credited with the M25+H Tauste singles title in 2026
- The Tauste event was played on hard courts with $30,000 in prize money
