Context last updated 3 Oct 2026, 19:06 · Europe/Bucharest

Bari's clay final matches a player who has not dropped a set all week against one who has twice gone the distance.

Martin Manzano won their only recent meeting 6-4, 6-2 in Genoa and is the likelier champion, but Pieri's serve numbers and two comeback wins keep it close. The reviewed prices — 1.65 on Martin Manzano to win the match and to take each of the first two sets, 2.20 and 2.10 on Pieri — ask for more than the form supports. None is worth taking.

Context

Martin Manzano has not dropped a set in four Bari matches, and two of those wins came against notably higher-ranked opponents: seventh seed Jay Clarke in the second round and Enrico Dalla Valle, who had just eliminated top seed Zsombor Piros, in the quarterfinals. A straight-set run leaves him with the lighter recent workload of the two finalists on a surface where nearly all of his season's results have been earned. The specific offset is that his clay record this swing includes several three-set defeats, so the least tested part of his week is how he handles a final that extends to a deciding set.
- Martin Manzano won four Bari matches in straight sets.
- He beat Matthew Donald 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinal.
- He beat seventh seed Jay Clarke 6-4, 6-4 in the second round.
- Quarterfinal opponent Enrico Dalla Valle had beaten top seed Zsombor Piros 6-4, 6-2 in the previous round.

Pieri's semifinal turned after he lost the opening set, and he closed it 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 against an opponent ranked more than 200 places above him. He also needed three sets to see off Carlos Taberner in the quarterfinal, so he carries two recent three-set matches into the final while his opponent has played none this week. Sachko had reached the last four through a retirement in the previous round, meaning Pieri's win came against a comparatively fresh, higher-ranked player. The workload is the readable counterpoint: Pieri has shown he can win long matches in Bari, but he has spent significantly more time on court than Martin Manzano in the last two rounds.
- Pieri beat Vitaliy Sachko 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinal after losing the opening set.
- Pieri beat Carlos Taberner 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinal.
- Sachko reached the semifinal after Gianluca Cadenasso retired in their quarterfinal.
- Sachko was ranked No. 179 and Pieri No. 398.

Samuele Pieri, ranked No. 398, is the higher-ranked of the two finalists by 28 places.
Pieri's serve has been the most dependable part of his clay game, and it is why the ranking gap and the straight-set loss in Genoa are not the whole story. He converted only 51 of 132 break points (38.6%) in the same sample, so he may need more chances than his opponent to turn a set his way.
- Pieri's last 15 clay matches span 9 August to 3 October 2026; the serve and break-point figures cover the 14 matches with full data.
- 74 of 105 break points saved (70.5%) and 68.5% of first-serve points won in that sample.
- 51 of 132 break points converted (38.6%) in the same sample.
The two met on the same surface three weeks before this final, when Martin Manzano won 6-4, 6-2 in the first round at Genoa 2 . That result is the baseline for the matchup, a straight-set win with no set dropped, and it is the only meeting between them in the recent record. One match is not a pattern, and Pieri has since won four matches in Bari, two of them in three sets including a comeback against a top-180 opponent. The earlier scoreline therefore reflects form at that moment rather than settling how the matchup now plays.
- Martin Manzano beat Pieri 6-4, 6-2 in the first round at Genoa 2 .
- It is the only meeting between the two in the recent record.
