Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 3 Oct 2026, 15:04 · Europe/Bucharest

Sachko, ranked 179, meets 398th-ranked Pieri for a place in the Bari final, with Pieri having won three matches here this week.

Sachko is the likelier winner, but 1.15 for him to take the match asks for more than the evidence supports, as does 1.65 for a straight-sets finish. Two prices do carry an edge: Pieri to win the match at 4.75 and Sachko to take the second set at 2.20.

Context

Pieri's clay record is built on fast starts rather than a steady two-set hold.
Sachko has won the opening set in 8 of his 12 completed clay matches, so this suggests the first set is the closer contest and the second is where Pieri's record has been thinner. Four of Pieri's 15 clay matches ended in 1-2 defeats, so strong starts have not always been converted, and his 15-match sample also produced six 2-0 wins. The record does not settle this match, but the first-set to second-set gap is the sharpest split in his clay sample.
- 15 completed clay best-of-3 matches tracked, 6 August to 2 October 2026
- First set: 11 wins, 4 losses; second set: 8 wins, 7 losses
- Scorelines: six 2-0 wins, three 2-1 wins, four 1-2 defeats, two 0-2 defeats
Sachko has shown both a clean straight-sets win and a heavy loss inside the same fortnight.
A best-of-three match can get away from Sachko quickly, which is the clearest risk attached to his ranking edge over a 398th-ranked opponent. He answered that defeat with a 6-3 6-1 win over Filip Cristian Jianu on 15 September and has since added two more straight-set wins, so the loss did not mark the start of a slide. Pieri's three wins this week mean the ranking gap alone will not decide the semi-final.
- 12 September 2026: lost to Mika Brunold (No 256) 0-6 2-6 on clay
- Two games won and 12 lost in a completed best-of-3 match
Sachko comes into the semi-final on a straight-sets win three days before the match.
It followed a 6-2 6-1 win over Mika Petkovic on 28 September, so the two wins cost him only seven games across four sets. Both opponents were ranked outside the top 350, well below Sachko's No 179, so the scorelines say more about his handling of lower-ranked opposition than about this level of match. Pieri, at No 398, is a similar calibre of opponent on paper.
- 30 September 2026: beat Dimitar Kuzmanov (No 361) 6-3 6-1 on clay
- 12 games to 4 across two completed sets in a best-of-3 match
