Monnet, ranked 206 to Buyukakcay's 447, is the likelier winner of this Adana first round, but she has lost three of her last six matches on record while Buyukakcay has won four of seven on hard.

The 4.5 on Buyukakcay is the one quote with room in it; Monnet at 1.2 needs about 83% and is left alone.

Context

The Adana Open is a new WTA 125 women's event, running 26 September to 4 October 2026 with the main draw under way from 28 September at the Adana Tenis, Dağ ve Su Sporları Kulübü. Both players arrive directly from the Ankara WTA 125, so the level, the country and the short travel are familiar to each of them rather than novel. The occasion matters because Buyukakcay is playing a Turkish event with a sizeable home contingent, the closest thing to a home tournament in either player's near schedule. No surface, court-speed or altitude detail has been documented for the venue, so this is familiar context rather than an established advantage.
- The Adana Open is a WTA 125 women's event running 26 September to 4 October 2026 at the Adana Tenis, Dağ ve Su Sporları Kulübü (ATDSK), with the main draw beginning 28 September.
- The tournament was presented at a Taşköprü press event attended by Adana governor Mustafa Yavuz and Türkiye Tenis Federasyonu president Şafak Müderrisgil.
- Buyukakcay is entered in Adana alongside Berfu Cengiz and Ayla Aksu.

Buyukakcay's own comments place value on competing in Türkiye, where she says home appearances are rare and success at a home WTA 125 carries weight for Turkish players. Adana follows directly in the same swing, making this a rare home-crowd match for a player ranked No. 447 rather than a neutral-site fixture. The point is occasion and stated preference; nothing in the comments documents a tactical change, a fitness update or a measurable edge. It is best read as context that explains what this week means to her and how the home support should be understood.
- After beating Katarina Kuzmova in the Ankara first round, Buyukakcay said she and her compatriots rarely meet their own crowd in their own country.
- She described succeeding at a home WTA 125 as very valuable for Turkish players and cited that week's wins by Ayla Aksu, Ayşegül Mert and Berfu Cengiz.

Buyukakcay played two three-set matches in Ankara, recovering from a set down against Kuzmova and then losing to a 19-year-old ranked No. 786, Deniz Dilek, who had already removed top seed Solana Sierra. The run shows she can hold her own at 125 level, yet she is also losing to much lower-ranked opposition, which sits awkwardly with her No. 447 ranking. Five days separate that defeat from this first round, so accumulated fatigue should not be decisive. The form read is a veteran who extends matches but has not turned that into a deep run.
- Buyukakcay beat Katarina Kuzmova 2-6 6-4 6-4 in the Ankara WTA 125 first round.
- She lost 6-1 2-6 6-2 to Deniz Dilek in the round of 16.
- Dilek, 19, had beaten top seed Solana Sierra 6-3 6-3 in the first round.

Monnet was the only French player in the Türkiye swing, winning a straight-sets first round in Ankara before losing in straight sets to sixth seed Anastasia Gasanova. At No. 206 she stands roughly 240 places above Buyukakcay, which is the clearest structural difference between the two. Her recent hard-court results sit close to level, and the Ankara week follows that pattern: she handled a lower-ranked opponent and came up short against seeded opposition. Reporting on Monnet this week is thin, so this route is the main current-event anchor on her side.
- Monnet beat Fiona Crawley 6-1 7-6 in the Ankara WTA 125 first round.
- She lost 6-2 6-1 to sixth seed Anastasia Gasanova in the round of 16 and headed to Adana the following week.
- Monnet was the only French player entered in the Türkiye swing.
