Vacherot is a heavy favorite over Vasa, but his 1.03 match price and 1.18 Under 2.5 sets offer no value.

Vasa’s clay resilience and Vacherot’s tendency to drop sets make derivative markets like Vacherot -3.5 games or Under 21.5 total games the smarter angles.

Context

Vacherot is the world No. 21 with 297 career wins at a 64.6% rate, arriving from a US Open third round. Vasa is ranked No. 446, has 229 career wins and has played almost all of his 2026 schedule on clay.
Vacherot went 8-8 across his last 15, with US Open wins over Kamil Majchrzak (No. 73) and Aleksandar Kovacevic (No. 82) before losing to Frances Tiafoe (No. 8). Vasa's 9-6 came entirely on clay, and his September wins were against players ranked 521, 569, 738 or unranked, a run ended by a 6-3 6-0 loss to No. 542 Adrian Oetzbach. The percentages behind Vasa's record therefore carry less weight than they appear to.
- Vacherot last 15: 8-8 (53.3%), including wins over No. 73 Kamil Majchrzak and No. 82 Aleksandar Kovacevic at the US Open and a loss to No. 8 Frances Tiafoe.
- Vasa last 15: 9-6 (60%), all 15 matches on clay; his September wins came against opponents ranked 521-738 or unranked.
- Current rankings: Vacherot No. 21, Vasa No. 446.
Vacherot is 193cm and his serve underpins his game: 1,962 career aces and a 70% win rate on first serve. Vasa is 185cm with 1,445 career aces and a 69% win rate on first serve.
In the last 15 matches Vacherot averaged 9.1 aces and 4.2 double faults, winning 75.9% of first-serve points; on clay that was 7.3 aces, 3.2 double faults and 74.9%. He converted only 31% of break points on clay (26 of 84), below Vasa's 39.8% on the same surface, so chances could be created and missed at both ends. Vasa saved 66.3% of break points in the same window, which gives his own serve some protection.
- Vacherot last 15: 9.1 aces and 4.2 double faults per match, 75.9% first-serve points won, 63.5% break points saved.
- Vacherot break points converted: 32% overall (40/125) and 31% on clay (26/84), the weakest of his tracked serve-and-return splits.
- Vasa last 15 (all clay): 5.3 aces and 2.9 double faults per match, 72.6% first-serve points won, 66.3% break points saved, 39.8% converted.
Finland host Monaco in World Group I at Espoo Metro Areena on 18–19 September. Eero Vasa is in Finland's five-player squad and Valentin Vacherot is named in Monaco's team.
The confirmed venue gives Finland home conditions and a home crowd for the tie, and both players are in their teams' squads, so each is available for selection. It does not settle which singles rubbers they play.
- The tie is World Group I, Round 1, at Espoo Metro Areena on 18–19 September 2026.

Vasa is a clay-based player: 139 of his 229 career wins came on clay against 51 on outdoor hard. Vacherot's career wins split 148 on clay and 138 on hard, so he is comfortable either way.
Vasa's 2026 record reads 26-18 on clay, 2-1 on outdoor hard and 2-4 indoors, and his entire last-15 sample of 9-6 is clay. Vacherot's last-15 split is 6-4 on clay from 10 matches and 2-5 on hard from five, part of a 10-10 hard-court season. If this tie is played indoors or on hard, Vasa's recent clay results say less about his level, while Vacherot's own hard-court results this season are also only level with his losses.
- Vasa last 15: 9-6, all 15 matches on clay, 51.4% of total points won, 39.4% return points won.
- Vacherot last 15 by surface: 6-4 on clay (10 matches), 2-5 on hard (5 matches).
- Vasa 2026: 26-18 clay, 2-1 outdoor hard, 2-4 indoor hard. Vacherot 2026: 6-4 clay, 10-10 hard, 2-0 indoor hard.

The read
Both players' low recent break-point conversion rates make a lopsided opening set unlikely, so the first set should reach at least nine games more often than not.
- Vasa saves 66.3% of break points and Vacherot converts only 32% (last 15, Aug–Sep 2026) — breaks are hard to come by.
- Vasa's last 15 set scores vs low-ranked opponents still often featured 7-6 and 6-4 opening sets (Sep 2026).
- Vacherot's straight-set wins typically open 6-4/6-3/7-5 (e.g. 6-4 6-2 vs Tiafoe-style elite, 31 Aug–4 Sep 2026).
- Only a 6-2 or shorter first set would beat this line.

The read
A comfortable two-set Vacherot win (margin of 5+ games) is more likely than not given the serve-structure edge, but home support and Vacherot's modest 32% break conversion cap confidence.
- Vacherot's dominant wins vs top-100 players include 6-2 6-3 7-5 (Kovacevic #82) and 6-4 4-6 7-6 6-2 (Majchrzak #73) in Sep 2026.
- Vasa's last 15: 52.3% games won and 39.4% return points won vs opponents ranked 231–886.
- Vacherot's 9.1 aces/match (last 15) gives him low-risk service holds, limiting Vasa's game accumulation.
- Davis Cup home crowd gives Vasa some resistance, limiting confidence in a big margin.

Expected 6-3/6-4 straight-set scorelines plus Vasa's low game-win rate over his last 15 point to a total under 21.5, though Vacherot's low break conversion tempers the margin.
- Vacherot's straight-set wins in his last 15 (Aug–Sep 2026) were mostly 6-4/6-3/6-2 scorelines (e.g. 6-2 6-3 7-5 vs Kovacevic).
- Vasa's average match duration over his last 15 is 85 minutes, indicating low-game-count matches.
- Vasa wins only 52.3% of games and 39.8% of break points in his last 15 (clay).
- Vacherot's break-point conversion is a modest 32% (last 15), a mild drag on runaway scorelines.

Even if set 1 is competitive, Vacherot's superior hold profile and career deciding-set resilience keep him ahead in set 2.
- Vacherot wins 51.2% of sets and Vasa 51.6% of sets in their last 15, but Vacherot's came against far stronger fields (Aug–Sep 2026).
- Vacherot's deciding-set win rate 59% (career) shows he holds level through a match.
- Vasa 66.3% break points saved (last 15, clay) — he can hold, but rarely breaks a top-25 server.

The read
A large class gap plus Vasa's poor break-point conversion makes a straight-sets Vacherot win the modal outcome; the main risk is one tight home-crowd set.
- Vacherot's typical winning margins in his last 15 (Aug–Sep 2026) were 6-4/6-3 type scorelines in straight sets vs #73 Majchrzak-style opponents.
- Vasa's last 15 clay matches vs low-ranked opponents averaged only 85 minutes, indicating short matches when he loses.
- Vasa holds at 66.3% break points saved but converts only 39.8% of break chances (last 15).
- H2H: Vacherot won in straight sets 6-3 7-5 (Aug 2023).

The read
Given the ranking and level-of-opposition gap, a two-set finish is the most likely shape, with three sets only if the home crowd lifts Vasa to one set.
- Vacherot has won his recent straight-set matches efficiently (e.g. 6-2 6-3 7-5 vs Kovacevic #82, 31 Aug 2026).
- Vasa's last 15 clay matches vs 231–886 ranked opponents ended in straight sets in the majority of his losses.
- Vacherot's sets-won rate is 51.2% vs Vasa's 51.6% in the last 15, but the quality gap in opposition is decisive.
- H2H single meeting was a straight-set Vacherot win.

Two solid servers (Vacherot 9.1, Vasa 5.3 aces per match in the recent window) plus a tall first-strike profile make the combined ace count likely to clear a modest line, with surface uncertainty the main risk.
- Vacherot averages 9.1 aces/match over his last 15 (Aug–Sep 2026), rising to 12.8/match on hard courts.
- Vasa adds 5.3 aces/match across his last 15 clay matches (Aug–Sep 2026).
- Vacherot is 193 cm with a 60.7% first-serve-in rate, generating a steady ace supply even in short matches.

The read
Low break-point conversion on both sides and Vasa's strong break-point saving raise the chance of at least one 6-6 set, though a fast straight-set blowout is the alternative scenario.
- Vacherot converted only 32% of break points over his last 15 matches (Aug–Sep 2026), keeping sets close.
- Vasa's last 15 include multiple tiebreaks/7-6 sets (e.g. 6-7 7-5 vs Faucon, 7-6 6-3 vs Ehrenschneider, Sep 2026).
- Vasa saves 66.3% of break points (last 15), which can push sets toward 6-6.

Markets to Avoid

High-risk markets where price or context leaves too little cushion.

Laying 1.03 on Vacherot requires near-certainty, but his last-15 profile (8-7, 32% break points converted) and Vasa's clay serving numbers make the price a trap.
