Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 29 Aug 2026, 06:10 · Europe/Bucharest

Francesca Jones is in red-hot form (14-1 in last 15) while Magda Linette is struggling (6-9).

Jones's superior return and break-point stats give her a clear edge, and the market undervalues her at 2.30. Back Jones to win the match and consider Jones 2-0 for a higher payout.

Context

Jones, 25, is a British right-hander ranked 104 and a clay-court specialist by career record, but she has just produced her best hard-court stretch of the season.
Her 14-1 run includes three straight qualifying wins on these courts, with only one retirement loss in that span. Linette has lost four of her last five matches, so Jones arrives with a clear current-form edge. The small hard-court sample of three matches is a limitation, but the overall momentum is strong.
- Jones is 14-1 in her last 15 matches, with the only loss a retirement on clay.
- She won three qualifying matches this week on hard courts, dropping only one set.
- Linette is 1-4 in her last five matches, all on hard courts.
Linette, 34, is a Polish right-hander ranked 78 and a veteran of 943 career matches.
In her last five hard-court matches she has won just 1 of 5, with first-serve points won at 58.7% and return points won at 39.4%. Those numbers are below her career averages and suggest she is not holding serve or breaking as effectively as usual. Jones's return game has been strong, so Linette may face early pressure.
- Linette's last-15 hard-court record is 1-4.
- Her first-serve points won on hard courts in that span is 58.7%, below her career 64%.
- Her return points won on hard courts is 39.4%, below her career 43%.
Jones has a career return points won percentage of 48%, and her recent form shows an even higher rate.
Jones has won 50.7% of return points overall in her last 15 matches, and 43.6% on hard courts in a small sample. Linette's second-serve points won on hard courts is just 45.7%, which could give Jones chances to attack. If Jones can pressure the second serve, she may create break opportunities.
- Jones's last-15 return points won is 50.7%.
- Linette's last-15 hard-court second-serve points won is 45.7%.
- Jones's hard-court return points won in three matches is 43.6%.
