Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 26 Oct 2026, 03:21 · Europe/Bucharest

A ranking gap of 106 against 675 in Seoul makes Wu the likely winner, with his first serve the clearest separator between them.

His 1.15 match price and 1.22 first-set price nonetheless ask more than a 6-5 hard-court first-set record supports. Hong is where the prices give something back: 3.8 for the first set, 4.75 for the match.

Context

Wu has won 8 of 14 hard-court matches in the supplied sample, so the Cui result sits inside a mixed run rather than a collapse.
Wu's case rests on ranking and serve, not on recent scorelines: four days before this match he was beaten in straight sets by a player ranked 448. Hong, 675, has lost to players ranked 124 and 478 in the same window, so neither arrives with a convincing run behind him. The ranking gap is still the more reliable signal, but it is not reinforced by wins.
- Wu lost 6-7, 6-7 to Jie Cui, ranked 448, on 22 October 2026.
- Both sets went to a tiebreak, so the match turned on a handful of points.
- The match was completed; it was not a retirement.
The sample covers 15 hard-court matches and includes play up to 22 October 2026.
Wu's serve is the clearest separator between these two players: he wins 70.6% of first-serve points and 54.5% of second-serve points, with enough free points to keep service games short. The one opening is his 2.8 double faults per match, which hands returners a handful of cheap points. If Hong is to stay in the opening set, converting those chances matters more than anything he does from the back of the court.
- Wu won 70.6% of first-serve points (485 of 687) across 15 hard-court matches in the sample.
- He won 54.5% of second-serve points (250 of 459) across the same 15 matches.
- He averaged 5.5 aces and 2.8 double faults per match.
The 15-match hard-court sample runs from 3 September 2024 to 5 October 2026 and excludes retirements.
Short matches cut both ways for Hong: they show he is rarely pulled apart, but also that he seldom stretches a stronger opponent. Seven of those 15 matches contained a tiebreak and his first sets average 10.7 games, so one tight set is a familiar pattern. Against a higher-ranked server, stealing an early tiebreak is his most plausible route into the match.
- Hong's 15 hard-court matches average 2.13 sets, with 13 finishing 2-0 or 0-2.
- Seven of the 15 matches contained at least one tiebreak.
- His first sets average 10.7 total games across the sample.
