Hayu Kinoshita #221Japan00 – 2Yulia Putintseva #66Kazakhstan2

The ranking gap to No. 221 is large, but the recent record is not that of a player sweeping all before her. Half of those 14 matches went against her, so a straight-sets procession should not be assumed. No serve or return splits are supplied for the window, leaving the ranking and the level of her opposition to carry most of the read.

That is the freshest result available for Kinoshita, and it came against a player ranked well below her. Facing a top-70 opponent on the same evidence leaves very little margin. The rest of her tracked window is 4-11, so the Lu scoreline fits a broader pattern rather than standing alone. No completed match after 28 September is listed for her.

This is a WTA 500 qualifying-round fixture on Court 1, with Kinoshita entering as an alternate. The No. 221 versus No. 66 ranking positions describe the different entry status of the two players. The alternate designation frames how Kinoshita reached this draw. The match listing does not state the reason the alternate place became available.

Kinoshita's 2026 season includes a 31-21 record and two Japanese hard-court titles, at W35 Miyazaki and W75 Kyoto. Those results give current-season context to her alternate entry in Tokyo. The titles came at ITF level rather than WTA 500 level. They establish hard-court title experience this year without describing a direct prior result against Putintseva.
