Context last updated 18 Oct 2026, 17:57 · Europe/Bucharest

Comesana beat Hardt on the same clay seven days ago, but he arrives off a 2h58 semifinal and four matches in six days while Hardt has had six days off.

Comesana is still the likelier winner. Comesana to win at 1.15 offers nothing; the worthwhile prices are Comesana in three sets at 3.8, Hardt to win the match at 4.75 and Hardt to win the first set at 3.5.

Context

Both players have just seen each other on the same surface, so this is a repeat rather than a first look: Comesana leads a head-to-head played a week ago in Bolivia, and Hardt has a set from that match to work from. The set Hardt won was the only closely contested part of the scoreline, which makes the rematch a test of whether Comesana's edge in the deciding set carries over. A single match is a thin basis for a pattern, and Cali's altitude and court differ from Santa Cruz.
- Comesana beat Hardt 6-3 4-6 6-2 in the Santa Cruz 2 Challenger first round on 12 October 2026.
- Hardt won the second set, the only set of the match that was not decided by a three-game margin or wider.
- The Cali meeting follows seven days later on clay.

Comesana played four matches in six days in Bolivia, closing with a two-hour-58-minute semifinal on the evening of before travelling to Colombia for a first-round match on 19 October. Hardt's week ended with that same first-round meeting on 12 October, so he has had six days to prepare and no travel inside the swing. The workload gap is the clearest physical difference between the two, though Comesana won two of his Santa Cruz rounds in straight sets and has been playing consecutive weeks on South American clay throughout October.
- Comesana lost the Santa Cruz 2 semifinal to Thiago Seyboth Wild 7-6(0) 4-6 7-6(3) in 2h58 .
- He had played four matches in six days there, beating Hardt, Felipe Meligeni Alves 6-1 6-4 and Genaro Alberto Olivieri 3-6 6-3 6-3.
- Hardt last played on 12 October and had six days without a match before Cali.

Comesana's seeding rather than his ranking defines his position in this draw: third seed at No. 125 against an unseeded opponent at No. 281, in a field headed by Nicolas Jarry, Hugo Dellien and Gustavo Heide. His ranking is well below the No. 54 he reached in August 2025, which is why he is playing Challenger clay in South America rather than tour-level events. Seeding follows entry ranking rather than current form, so it shows where he sits in this field but says nothing about how he is playing this week.
- Comesana is the third seed for the 2026 Cali Open and was ranked No. 125 on 5 October 2026.
- He held a career-high ranking of No. 54 in August 2025.
- Comesana was the top seed at the Santa Cruz 2 Challenger the previous week.

The Davis Cup tie in mid-September explains a five-week break in Hardt's tour schedule and gave him competitive clay matches in a team format before the South American swing. Since returning he has won one of three matches, beating Gonzalo Villanueva in three sets at Antofagasta before losing to Felipe Meligeni Alves and to Comesana in Santa Cruz. Two wins over a lower-ranked opponent in a team tie are limited evidence of tour-level form, and the promotion itself does not affect his standing in this draw.
- Hardt won both singles matches as the Dominican Republic beat Egypt 3-1 on clay in Santiago in September 2026 to reach Davis Cup World Group I.
- His clinching win was 6-2 6-1 over Omar Kandil.
- He played no tour matches between 1 September and 5 October 2026.
