Context last updated 18 Oct 2026, 15:33 · Europe/Bucharest

Miyoshi is the higher-ranked seed, but Chopra's similar hard-court record and stronger first-set record make this qualifying first round less one-sided than the rankings suggest.

Miyoshi remains the likelier winner, with his second-set record the clearest separator. The 1.2 on Miyoshi offers nothing, and neither do 1.29 for the first set or 1.25 for the second; Chopra at 4.5 to win, 3.3 for the opening set and 3.5 for the second all offer something.

Context

Those straight-set wins matter in a best-of-three format because a single dropped set immediately forces a decider. The record has a limit, though: five of the same 15 matches still went to a third set. Miyoshi's tendency is therefore a useful pointer toward a shorter match, not a fixed outcome.
- Miyoshi played 15 hard-court matches from 2 August to 22 September 2026.
- He won seven of them 2-0 and averaged 2.33 sets per match.
- Five of the 15 matches went to a third set.
Chopra's first-set game margin (5.0 won to 4.5 lost) is better than his second-set margin (4.9 to 5.3), so the opening set has been a clearer indicator of his level than the final margin. That split fits a player whose matches often stretch or slip away after a good start. The 14-match sample excludes one retirement and is still small, so this is a pattern to watch rather than a fixed trait.
- Chopra played 14 completed hard-court matches from 13 July to 17 September 2026, with one retirement excluded.
- He won 9 of 14 first sets and 6 of 14 second sets.
- He averaged 5.0 games won and 4.5 lost in first sets, and 4.9 won and 5.3 lost in second sets.
- None of his 14 first sets reached a tiebreak.
Both men are in the qualifying draw, so two wins are needed to reach the Fort Worth main draw and the immediate prize is a main-draw place rather than ranking points alone. Miyoshi's No. 2 seeding reflects a ranking of No. 450 and puts him among the higher-rated entrants, while Chopra came in off the alternate list at No. 699. Seeding governs bracket placement, not on-court terms, and alternate status describes only where a player sat in the acceptance order before the draw was made, not how he is playing.
- Miyoshi is listed as the No. 2 seed for the Fort Worth Challenger qualifying draw.
- Chopra is entered in the same qualifying draw as an alternate.
- The qualifying first-round match is scheduled for 12:00 on Court V1.

A doubles entry in the same week means a second event on the same hard courts, with the first round fixed for 11:00 on 20 October, two days after this qualifying match. For a player ranked No. 450 chasing main-draw results, extra matches bring court time and prize money alongside a physical cost if the singles week extends. The effect is modest: one Challenger doubles match adds far less load than a deep singles run, and the doubles commitment stands regardless of how this qualifier goes.
- Miyoshi is listed in the Fort Worth Challenger doubles draw alongside O. Baris.
- Their doubles first round is scheduled for 20 October at 11:00 against W. Thayne and J. Vance.
