Cooper WoestendickUnited States11 – 2Bor Artnak #5152

Woestendick's competitive rhythm in the month before Fort Worth comes from college tennis, where he is rated among the top 25 nationally and was placed directly into a major collegiate main draw. That main draw lasted one match, a loss to a lower-rated college opponent, which left him playing consolation singles on 24 and . The relevant question for this fixture is the level gap: collegiate draws are amateur fields, and a Challenger qualifying round against a ranked professional is a different standard of serve and return pressure. Nothing in that record shows how he handles the step up, and his recorded tour-level matches this year are all on hard courts.

Artnak's 2026 workload is a densely packed clay block, 15 matches in about three weeks with 11 wins, and then nothing in the record for two months before Fort Worth. A layoff of that length leaves no current evidence of match sharpness, and the clay-only block leaves no recent off-clay sample to read against an opponent whose recorded play is on hard courts. That matters because a qualifying round rewards immediate rhythm, and his ranking of No. 515 gives him no cushion if the first match is loose. The limitation is real: an absence of listed matches is weaker evidence than a reported withdrawal or injury, and practice or unlisted events could have filled the gap.

Woestendick's hard-court sets are the only same-surface set data available for either player in this matchup.

The sample says Woestendick starts well and stays competitive into the second set, and his matches run a little over 21 games on average, so three-set finishes are ordinary rather than exceptional. Five of the 13 went to a tiebreak. Artnak has no hard-court set data in the window, so this is the only same-surface baseline on show, and it is a 13-match sample rather than a season-long reading.

A wildcard puts Woestendick into the Fort Worth qualifying draw without the professional ranking that normally earns a place there, so qualifying is his route into the event rather than a main-draw appearance. That places him against a full-time touring professional in Artnak, with the winner continuing toward the main draw. It also frames the difference in circumstance between the two: Artnak's 2026 schedule is entirely professional, while Woestendick's is built around the college season. The designation is an entry fact and carries no implication about his form or fitness.
