Context last updated 15 Oct 2026, 22:23 · Europe/Bucharest

Two players two ranking places apart meet in the Catania clay quarter-final, with Wiskandt's fast starts against Giunta's stronger serving.

Giunta is the slightly likelier match winner, but the 1.45 on him asks for more than his clay form supports; neither does 1.55 on the opening set or 1.5 on the second. The worthwhile prices are on Wiskandt: to win the match at 2.6, the opening set at 2.3 and the second set at 2.4.

Context

Giunta, ranked 390 and in the main draw as an alternate, eliminated the fifth seed Henry Searle, the highest-ranked player in his section at No. 228, from a set down in the first round. That result gives his quarter-final run a concrete reference against higher-ranked opposition and shows he can win from behind at this event. The result is one match, and Searle's seeding reflects a 50-level draw rather than a top-field scalp.
- Giunta beat fifth seed Henry Searle 6-7(7) 6-2 6-2
- Giunta beat Pavel Lagutin 7-5 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals
- Giunta entered the main draw as an alternate
- Searle was ranked 228, Giunta 390
ConfirmedSources checked 15 Oct 2026, 22:22 · Europe/Bucharest
Giunta's clay serve numbers are the most complete statistical baseline either player brings into the quarter-final.
Giunta's serve has been reliable over 15 clay matches, and his 40% break-point conversion (38 of 95) shows he is not only holding but also cashing in. The limitation is that Wiskandt's serve statistics are unavailable, so this cannot be framed as a straight serving advantage in the matchup; it sets out Giunta's base level.
- Giunta has won 509 of 711 first-serve points on clay (71.6%) across 15 matches
- He has won 1199 of 2357 total points (50.9%)
- He is averaging 4.6 aces and 2.8 double faults per match
- He has converted 38 of 95 break points (40%)
Wiskandt's most dependable recent split is the first set, which is where his clay form has been strongest.
Wiskandt's 10-4 record in opening sets stands out against his own 9-5 second-set mark and makes the first set the part of his game most likely to hold up. The sample is 14 completed clay matches with one retirement excluded, so it is small enough that an opponent serving as well as Giunta has can overturn it.
- Wiskandt's opening-set record is 10 wins and 4 losses in 14 clay matches
- His second-set record is 9 wins and 5 losses
- The sample runs from 11 July to 15 October 2026, with one retirement excluded
- Four of the 14 matches featured a tiebreak
Giunta has been markedly better in second sets than opening sets, which shapes how the match may unfold if it goes long.
Giunta's 11-4 second-set record is the best single split either player owns in the current clay window, and it sits alongside 6 of 15 matches featuring a tiebreak and a 24.2-game average. The counterweight is that he has lost 8 of 15 opening sets, so he has often had to produce that second-set form from behind.
- Giunta's second-set record is 11 wins and 4 losses in 15 clay matches
- He averages 5.27 games won and 4.40 lost in second sets
- His opening-set record is 7 wins and 8 losses
- The 15-match sample covers 10 August to 15 October 2026
