Santa Cruz quarterfinal on clay: La Serna has completed only one set in the second round, while Roncadelli has gone three sets twice.

La Serna's clay first-set record (8-5 in thirteen matches) against Roncadelli's 6-8 suggests he should start better, though Roncadelli is the higher-ranked player and beat the fourth seed. Of the reviewed prices, only La Serna at 2.05 to win the opening set reads as worthwhile; Roncadelli at 1.7 does not.

Context

Prado Angelo is the highest-ranked opponent Roncadelli has faced in this draw and a home player, so this is the most meaningful win behind his quarterfinal place. The distance of the match also matters: Roncadelli has played three sets in both his wins this week, adding to his court time before the Friday quarterfinal. The scoreline is a limitation as well, because he trailed and only broke late rather than controlling the match.
- Beat Juan Carlos Prado Angelo 6-4 2-6 6-3
- Prado Angelo was the fourth seed and ranked No. 162
- Roncadelli broke in the deciding set after trailing

La Serna reached the same stage as Roncadelli with far less time on court: his second round ended after a single set, while his opponent has played two three-set matches. That difference in recent workload is the practical consequence of this route. The retirement belonged to Justo, so it carries no information about La Serna's own condition, and his first-round win over Casanova, then ranked outside the top 400, is a modest form reference.
- Beat Hernan Casanova 6-3 6-4
- Led Guido Ivan Justo 6-1 when Justo retired
- Justo was the sixth seed and ranked No. 188

A Challenger title on clay is the strongest single result of Roncadelli's 2026 season and shows he can convert a full week into a title rather than only advancing rounds. It frames this quarterfinal at the level where he has already won. The limitation is timing: the title came earlier in the year and does not by itself describe his October form, and he arrived in Santa Cruz after three consecutive defeats.
- Won the 2026 Santos Challenger on clay
- Event carried $63,000 in prize money

La Serna's first sets on clay have been his most reliable stretch: eight wins from thirteen matches, with no set-one tiebreak in that sample. His second sets in the same span are closer to even, 7-6, and he has averaged 5.0 games each way in them. The quarterfinal read is that the early part of the match has been his stronger ground, while five first-set losses in thirteen is not a commanding record.
- 13 clay matches tracked, 27 June to 13 October 2026
- Set 1 record 8-5, average 4.9 games won and 3.8 lost
- No tiebreak in any of the 13 first sets; two tiebreaks in set 2
