Lucie Nguyen Tan #406France22 – 0Eva Bennemann #284Germany0

Bennemann's 5-9 first-set record means she has often been chasing the match, while Nguyen Tan is 6-7 in opening sets on the same surface. Across 14 clay matches from late July to early October, Bennemann lost the first set in nine of them, which puts early pressure on her serve and return games. It does not settle the contest, because Bennemann has still won half of those clay matches overall.

Nguyen Tan came through two qualifying rounds at this event, beating Mireia Sagrista Bermejo 6-1 6-4 and then Ruth Roura Llaverias 6-3 4-6 6-4 to reach the main draw. That leaves her with two completed matches, including a three-setter, on the Mallorcan courts before this first-round encounter, whereas Bennemann's first match at the event is this one. Both qualifying opponents are ranked well below Nguyen Tan, so the run shows current competitive continuity rather than evidence against a top-300 opponent.

Nguyen Tan played the ITF Seville 35K immediately before this event and then moved into Mallorca qualifying, giving her five singles matches across 6-12 October with travel between two Spanish venues. Bennemann's comparable window contains two recorded matches, so the loads are unequal. Extra tennis can matter in a first-round match, but the ITF 35K sits below this level and Nguyen Tan's Seville results were mixed, so the size of any effect is uncertain.

Nguyen Tan's clay matches have stretched out: five of 13 ended 2-1 and she averaged 2.54 sets per match between 2 August and 12 October 2026. That sample includes her 6-3 4-6 6-4 qualifying win on 12 October, and a first-set record of 6-7 means she has often had to recover from a set down. It points to a longer contest rather than a quick one, though 13 matches is a small sample.
