Lisa Zaar #298Sweden00 – 2Matilde Jorge #250Portugal2

This was Zaar's longest run of match play in the current sample, four wins in five days on clay, and it ended on Sunday in a deciding tie-break. She plays in Lisbon on 13 October after a single rest day, while Jorge has not played a singles match since 30 September. The difference in recent workload and recovery time is the clearest physical asymmetry between the two players. The Santa Margherita field was below WTA 125 standard, so the run measures her sharpness and durability rather than the level she faces here.

Jorge's clay set-evidence sample lists zero completed matches, while her overall window tracks 13 with an 8-5 record. Her last listed singles outing was a 5-7 2-6 loss to Elena Malygina on 30 September 2026, and every match in her recent list came on hard court. That means her clay level for this fixture is unknown rather than poor; the missing evidence is uncertainty, not a demonstrated weakness.

This is the most recent read on Jorge's singles level before Lisbon: one WTA 125 main-draw win per week against a lower-ranked opponent, then a straight-sets exit against a top-100 seed. The Kraus match was her last singles appearance,, so she comes in rested but without competitive singles tennis for almost three weeks. The win over Cervino Ruiz shows she is converting matches at this grade, but she has not yet turned a 125-level week into a deep run.

The Évora title ended a gap of more than a year without a singles trophy and came immediately before the two home WTA 125s, part of a points push toward the Australian Open cut-off. It explains why Jorge arrives in Lisbon with a recent winning week behind her rather than only second-round WTA 125 results. The title was at a lower level than this event, so it points to continuity and confidence rather than a change in the level she is expected to produce against Zaar.
